Great first safety razor.
I wanted to make the transition from my 5 blade razor, which was giving me ingrowing hairs and lots of irritation. I was told this would be less irritating to the skin, lead to a closer shave and make this part of grooming more of a ritual/experience. The Edwin Jagger is supposed to be one of the easiest to use without hacking your face to pieces as a novice. So I used it for the first time last night. The first pass was quite difficult - trying to find the right angle to hold it at was a struggle, and not pressing too hard (a bad habit from multi-blade heads) was a temptation too great to resist. I nicked myself on my chin and the base of my neck, and wondered whether I'd just wasted my money.But... by the second and third passes, I'd found my stroke and begun to realise what a joy it would be to use this from now on. Even though I'd nicked myself in a couple of places, it was STILL less painful after shaving than the ingrowing hairs and stripped skin caused by my Gillette Fusion.I can't say how it compares to other safety razors as this is the only one I have tried, but I can vouch for the baby smooth skin it left me with, the pleasure of the shaving experience, and the small amount of practice it seems to take to get on with this type of razor. A small bit of advice - get an alum block if this is your first safety razor - you'll need it,The chrome finish is beautiful, the handle has a good grip and the razor has a very satisfying weight to it. A quality product through and through.

Great DE razor - Easy shave and stick with it if you are new to DE shaving!
This is the second DE razor I have bought and I am completely converted to this type of shaving.I do prefer this to the first razor I bough which was a Merkur 1904 (I lost it, slightly worryingly). I prefer it because this angles the blades down slightly more so than the merkur and it makes for a more gentle shave, and less cuts overall. As for DE shaving, if you are new to it, stick with it and you'll never go back! It takes a bit of getting used to, with a few cuts early on, but before long it'll be second nature and you'd never dream of going back! After the initial cost the savings are huge. I bought 100 blades for around £7 (so 7p a blade) and the blades last a good 3 shaves before going blunt which is many many times less expensive than a cartridge razor. The shaving process takes a little longer than with a cartridge blade (less so when you get more experienced with it) but it's also far more gentle, without the 'tugging' sensation you get with a cartridge razor. You shave the same area 2-3 times and at the end your face feels smooth. As you'd expect with this type of product, there is very little which I think could go wrong and I imagine it could last for many years to come!

Engineering perfection.
Amazing razor, not that I have had much experience in the world of DE razors.I had started my journey in DE shaving with a Men Rock gift set £50 which I purchased here. I thought it was ok but it would cut my face when I turned the razor round and be fine on the other side. I was not happy with it so I bought this.I was amazed at the difference after my first shave with this DE89L. The difference was night and day. This razor is very well manufactured. It's shorter than the other one and I like it better. Finally plucked up the courage to try a feather blade with this and I only nicked myself once on my adams apple (I released the swallow to early lol)Just wish I had bought this from the offset as I was told to, I just never listened.Great finish, if you were not shaving with it you could use it as a mirror :)2017 Update.Had a Edwin Jagger Chrome Lined DE Razor for around 2 years now and recently the top plate screw snapped off. I contacted their support and Toni got back in touch instructing me on how to get the broken thread out and then sent out a free replacement top plate along with some other goodies.Top quality support from Toni. Many thanks. Superb.

Beautifully crafted, this is a real quality bit of ...
Beautifully crafted, this is a real quality bit of kit that is a real pleasure to handle as well as to use - genuinely the best shave and shaving experience I have ever had. I only wish I had made the move to using a traditional safety razor years ago.Solidly built, I fully expect this razor to give me many years of service; changing blades is very easy and the head holds them firmly in place (this is a simple screw off and screw down type of head, not a hinged opening mechanism - when doing my pre-purchase research, I found that hinged mechanisms have a 'fatter/deeper' head, making shaving right up beneath your nose more difficult). Please note, if you are considering changing to a safety razor from disposables, shaving this way will take you a little longer but the investment is, in my opinion, well worth it ( I genuinely enjoy shaving now). This has proved to be the single most satisfying purchase that I have made in years.
