Maglite Men's Solitaire LED Presentation Box Flashlight-Red

Ever since MagLite "Saw the light" and converted to LED light sources, particularly with the Solitaire, we now have a compact, tough and reliable flashlight that uses a single AAA Energiser battery to give ample light for its size. NEVER use DURACELL batteries, by the way - those "Once-reliable" copper-top batteries USED TO BE Leakproof, but are now Not so. Thoughthat is another story... Back to this most marvellous mini-Maglite, one of the most popular applications for these is accompanying a Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman multi-tool - which is why so many after-market pouches for these indispensable tools, incorporate sleeves or pockets that fit the Solitaire perfectly.

I've been using Maglites for years and they've never let me down. I already have a Solitaire - twenty (plus) years old and still going strong - but I bought this one because it's LED and the old one isn't. It is way brighter than the original, but feels equally strong and well-made. You can buy cheaper, but I bet they won't last half as long.

A perfect light for the overnight bag, the handbag etc. Very impressed with the LED technology and finish. Highly recommended, but a tad pricey or it would have had 5 stars.

This a good torch in terms brightness and its compact nature. Unfortunately my unit despite minimal use stopped functioning after 4 months. Now exploring manufacturing warranty

I liked this a lot and bought two, unfortunately one stopped working and it was replaced without question and immediately, which was very impressive. The original was black and the replacement red which is not a big deal though I originally bought one of each so we could distinguish them so now we won’t be able to. Slightly more worryingly the replacement came with the battery inserted the wrong way around which I thought one should be careful not to do. This was confirmed on reading the instructions but when I put it in correctly it works fine. Top Marks to Amazon for replacing it so promptly but rather fewer to the merchant for the battery error hence the 3 star overall rating

Initially I was very impressed with the torch, however, there was a problem when the battery ran out and had to be changed. The battery cap wouldn't unscrew. I contacted Maglite directly, as it was about 8 months old. The American company referred me to the European division, who in turn referred me to the UK distributor. Several emails to the UK distributor resulted in no reply, so I cannot recommend an item this expensive with such a short lifespanUpdate - after 2 months of trying, I finally got a response from the UK distributor. They claimed the cap was stuck due to a battery leak. They said this was my fault, as "batteries shouldn't be left in a torch". They would not accept the torch back to be examined as leaking batteries cannot be posted. There was nothing to suggest the battery had leaked, beyond them saying it was their opinion it would have.

Product is fine. However, I ordered a red light and received black? It even says red on the box. Really disappointed as I can’t find anyone to contact about it and I specifically wanted red for a gift.

Had the original solitaire on my keychain for years but never very bright, even with fresh batteries. This led version is loads brighter and because it’s led the batteries last longer too.

Maglite, c'est juste l'assurance totale, d'avoir du bon matériel. Rien de plus.Pas de fioritures.Une mini lampe, tout en métal, cossue, fiable. Une mini pile et un éclairage digne de ce nom.

Die Taschenlampe ist klein aber ein absolutes Leuchtwunder an Helligkeit und deren Reichweite (Für Leute die bis zum Mond leuchten wollen ist sie nichts, für normale Anwender, die es nur SEHR hell haben möchten ist sie erstklassig).Tadellose Verarbeitung, sehr robust, klein und schlank, leicht, schönes finishDie Lampe ist absolut ausreichend für den Haushalt, für das Auto und für unterwegs. Alles andere ist to much und unnötig für zivile Anwendungen.

I'm giving this 4 stars because it's just a simple flashlight. I can't imagine what a flashlight would have to be in order for me to give it a 5 star "I love it" rating. It is small enough to carry in my pocket or on my keychain or throw it in the desk drawer or car console, and it has a reasonably bright LED bulb. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the twist on/off function, but that turns out to be no problem for me. The beam adjusts from flood to spot/flood and back to flood again all in about 1 1/2 turns, but don't keep turning much past that or you'll start to unscrew the head and you won't gain any further meaningful beam adjustment. It isn't super bright (37 Lumens). It's not made to blind an attacker or disorient him with an intense strobe or to see all the way to the moon. It simply provides a fairly bright beam of light when you need it to see your immediate surroundings. Given my prior experience with Mag Lite, I foresee years of trouble free service from the Solitaire.Update: After several months use I think I'll update this to 5 stars. It really is a great little light. I just bought another Solitaire and the package says 47 lumens, so I guess Maglite has either increased or updated the output rating or somewhere along the line there was a misprint. I honestly can't tell the difference in brightness between the two, it there is actually any.
