Maglite Xl200 LED Torch - Black

This is a great little pocket flash-light. In recent times I've become more interested in torches/flash-lights because we usually get at least a couple of power cuts a year where I live and they usually last 2-4 hours and can be inconvenient if they occur in the late afternoon/early evening so having some battery light is important. This little beauty can light up a whole room on it's default high setting. There are 5 settings in total with the ability to tweak the default brightness to your own desired level, which is also useful for prolonging battery life. I love the third setting 'night light'. This means when you place the torch onto a surface it dims after a few seconds and then only comes back to full life when you pick it up or move it. Handy in pitch black situations. There's also an automatic SOS Morse code setting (could save your life) and a manual signal setting for people who know Morse code and want to send their own messages. There's a lock feature that prevents accidental operation. Last but not least is a strobe setting which can also be tweaked to your needs, useful for a situation of being attacked or alerting people to an emergency. All in all probably the best £45 I've spent in a while and this maglite flash-light will hopefully last me for years to come.

Bought this torch to replace a LED Lenser that decided to play up after less than a year of light use. I've owned a 3D cell LED Maglite for the last 4 years and I love it, so I thought the XL200 would be a good compact companion to it, that I could comfortably use for dog-walking and whatnot. And I'm happy to report that it does not disappoint. It has the familiar, solid metal construction of a Maglite, and the performance to match. The beam is bright and very white, with no shadows or yellow tinge. The beam doesn't throw quite as far as my big Maglite, but the higher brightness compensates for that. The adjustable brightness is a nice feature, as are the variable modes, but I will probably only ever use Mode 1. It may not be the greatest torch in the world in terms of specifications, but being a Maglite, you are guaranteed longevity and reliability. So all in all, a great little torch which will certainly please Maglite fans, and satisfy most other users.

I have had this torch for a couple of years now, and it is simply brilliant. It is amazing how far and how bright it shines. I used it recently on safari, in pitch black conditions and you could see for a very long way. Its fantastic around the home as well, if you need to see into a dark crevice, or the garden at night. For its size, it packs a punch. You may think (I paid) Forty pounds is expensive for a torch, and I hesitated before buying it, but it is well worth the money.

Excellent torch with a good range and brightness. My only criticism is that because it has an electric switch, it needs a small amount of current going through it when it's off. After a month of not being used, the batteries were almost drained so the light was very dim. A quick search on the net shows this to be a common problem and the only solution is to remove the tailcap when not in use, which isn't ideal.

My second one of these... and now available at sensible money. Compact size, decent light output and clever features. Excellent 'personal' torch. However, do use decent quality batteries if you leave it unused for a prolonged period of time... or simply remove them. Some batteries can deteriorate, corrode and swell leaving them jammed inside the casing... and I can tell you, it's one hell of a job getting them out. Other than that, completely recommended this torch.

This is probably the coolest torch on the market! For the price you can get a more powerful light, but this torch is very bright and will easily illuminate objects about 150m away. The option to change modes makes this the kind of torch you want to show your friends, impressing them with the 5 modes. The extra brightness and ease of use makes this torch much better than its little sisters, the Xl100 and Xl50. This is a great buy!

This is a really small and super efficient light, I don't think you can find anything more powerful, efficient and well designed than this! Obviously the bottom does not have to be rotated (it will only unscrew), but the different light options are given by pressing the button 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 times, which is possibly the only not terribly easy thing to do. Anyway it is really great, totally pleased!

I bought this in good faith and it performed very well. However when the time came to replace he batteries I could.not get the cartridge from the out of the barrel (trey are fitted into a plastic cartridge which slides into the barrel). I had to resort to banging the base on a book which finally got it out but damaged the base of the barrel and the end cap won't now reattach. I contacted maglite in US who didn't seem to care and arbitrarily blamed the batteries for leakage/corrosion (which wasn't the case) and advised me to contact tha battery manufacturers! Moral of the story is that it's a great torch for one cycle use but mega expensive if it needs scrapped after trying to replace batteries.
