Easy, straightforward way to upgrade Wifi, Bluetooth and get Continuity
I just ordered this last week for my 2011 27" Imac (12,2) and the installation process was very easy, the instructions included were clear and sufficient and I only had to cut a small plastic edge to be able to fully seat the new wireless card in place. This is not a product's fault because the plastic piece was designed to accommodate a thinner wireless card.Opening and installing new hardware on a 2011 iMac is fortunately a lot easier than on 2012 and later models, just pull the front glass, remove screws and connectors from screen and get complete access to the internal components. Then:1. Disconnect the 3 WiFi antennas, unscrew and pull the old wireless card,2. Detach the new wireless card from the OSX adapter base3. Put the adapter base on the card slot and notice it won't fully seat vertically on place because of a protruding bracket edge on the left side4. Cut the excess material from the black plastic bracket on the back with a razor blade, be careful not to damage anything.5. Now you can install and fully seat and screw the adapter card base in place, connect the kit supplied power cable to the 3 left side prongs (brown wire on bottom, gray on top).6. Install the new wireless card in the adapter and and connect all 3 WIFI antenna wires (1 - Bt - 2 - 3) from left to right. leave the second antenna connector empty for now7. On the second antenna port, connect the extension antenna wire for Bluetooth that comes with the kit.8. Go to the left side and locate the Bluetooth module and unplug the antenna and the data/power cable from it.9. Connect the other end of the antenna extension to the bluetooth antenna wire you just removed from the original bt module, route the extension cable in a way it won't interfere with other components.10. Connect the other end of the power cable that came with the kit to the data/power cable you just unplugged from the original Bluetooth module (you can leave the old module in place, it will be completely disconnected and disabled. route the wire in a way it won't interfere with other components.11. reinstall screen and front glass.12. Reboot mac.In my case, the computer recognized the new card automatically on reboot (my OSX is 10.13.6) and without the need to run third party programs or scripts (google: continuity activation tool) , now I'm getting AC wifi speed, bluetooth 4,2 low energy, have continuity, handoff, I can move files through airdrop between my iphone and imac, etc.The only feature I haven't been able to activate is: Unlock with my apple watch. this option was not previously available on settings/security & privacy before installing the wireless card, but it appears automatically on reboot. I don't think this is a problem with the upgrade, but a software issue, i googled it and there are lots of people having the problem even with more recent computers.Anyway, I'm happy with the purchase. I just wish the kit could be less expensive.Update: Despite what other reviews say about support, OSXWIFI have been quick and helpful to answer my questions even before I decided to buy the adapter. After several failed attempts to activate the apple watch feature looking for tips on google, I asked them about how to address the unlock with Apple Watch issue and they replied to me with a detailed steps list involving a couple of easy terminal commands, and in minutes In could activate the feature successfully. No more writing passwords to log in my Imac! Thank you OSX WIFI!

Adapter works as described. OS X may take configuring for handoff & watch unlock to work.
The component does fit, although the 3 wire pins are overtop an air duct in the 27" mid 2011 iMac. If those pins were 5mm away the card would lay flat for both screws to go in. Just one screw in, the adapter works fine. This is probably not an issue with other iMac Models. The Bluetooth antenna extension cable didn't have a shield over the primary pin at the connector, which does not seem to cause any connectivity issues, but it was so small I thought the shield may have detached and I lost it somehow. The 27" iMac 2011 had all 3 wifi antenna connectors, so it does not need the included extra 3rd wifi antenna. The instructions don't tell you that you will lose your existing apple keyboard and mouse bluetooth pairing. When you first boot the iMac, wait for the "trouble logging in..." message pops up after 20-30 seconds. Then hold the power button until it shuts off. power it on again, and iMac will go into keyboard and mouse pairing mode. The strange animated pictures are saying to hold the keyboard power/pair button for a few seconds until it starts to double blink. It took a minute to figure out what the 6 digit number with a square box meant. (supposed to represent the user typing the 6 digit pairing code into the keyboard) The keyboard is now paired, and it will show the slide on/off of the mouse power button. If you do that a couple times the mouse will pair. Once the mouse works, click the apple icon, and restart the iMac.iOS Handoff and unlock with Apple Watch options did show up immediately in preferences, but neither are actually working. I've tried everything in all the handoff/ watch unlock threads. Restarts, clearing bluetooth, logging out and back into iCloud, keychain, wifi, bluetooth toggles, passcodes, etc, etc... Since this is the primary reason I bought the card, I'll keep hunting for a solution. This is an OS X issue and not the cards fault.update - everything is working now. google for continuity activation tool. The tool does more than you need here, but it includes some critical patches to make the handoff and watch unlock work. Make sure to go into recovery mode (command-r on boot) and open terminal option for "csrutil disable" before you run the tool. then go back in and "csrutil enable" to prevent malware.

ABSOLUTELY ZERO SUPPORT from OSXWiFi. I have emailed them ...
ABSOLUTELY ZERO SUPPORT from OSXWiFi. I have emailed them numerous times with no response.Arrived with no instructions. Luckily, I'm fairly tech savvy and with some splicing and soldering was able to get the USB connection together.NOTE: There is NO internal option to plug the aforementioned usb cable provided inside a iMac 27" 2011. You will have to rig the cable yourself. I unfortunately, had to route it through the RAM slot to an external USB port. Will update once I see how and if it works.

Support sucks. Device works. El Capitan no good.
Installed ok in 2010 iMac. Support does not reply to any emails. I did require ktext modification via the Continuity Activation Tool (google it). But El Capitan is having issues with continuity and handoff, so haven't been able to use it so much lately.

where to put extra antenna?
This review is more of a question, since I am at a stand still trying to determine where to mount the extra antenna labeled WLAN Main. Instructions Say mount at the Apple logo on front cover. The only logo I see is center bottom. Is this where it should go? And if so do I stick it on the circuit board ,with the double stick tape provided, close to the Logo or inside the plastic case close to the Logo? Also the existing antenna which has to be connected to J1 was too short, so had to remove the hard drive and cut tape holding the antenna in a circle enough to gain sufficient length. Hope this doesn't cause an issue. Please provide some guidance on locating the extra antenna, so I can close the 2009 imac 27 inch, and test. After that I will write an operational review. 5 Stars for quality of parts 4 for instructions. Thanks
