Great Product for what I use it for
I bought this because I was going on a business trip and needed something to do at my hotel when I got home, and figured this was a better option than being ‘the guy who brought his Xbox’. Used it in the airport during layover and at the hotel, both times with subpar WiFi and cloud gaming was still great. By no means am I a pro gamer, I’m a full time employee and father so I don’t game nearly like I used to. But if you’re in a pinch and want something to do so you’re not watching Frozen 2 for the 800th damn time while you mindlessly doomscroll or just want to pass the time without having to turn on the tv and the console, this is a great option. Hardly any lag in the controls that I’ve noticed with good WiFi, controller feels nice in your hands and isn’t super awkward or heavy. No real complaints yet but like I said I don’t use this for anything serious. Just casual play every so often.

WARNING DO NOT UPDATE THIS CONTROLLER IN THE NACON APP.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE NACON APP FOR IOS DO NOT DO THE UPDATE ON THE CONTROLLER IN THE APP IF YOU DO IT WILL BRICK THE CONTROLLER. I love this controller is extremely comfortable I was able to play COD for about 3 hours with out my hands hurting. The reason I had to stop playing was because my phone battery was dying and I was not able to charge my phone and still play the game. Witch brings me to the biggest problem with this controller it don’t have a pass through charger for your phone or tablet. The second biggest problem with this case is that it don’t fit all devices and you can’t use it with a case on your device. Who in there right mind would remove there phone case every time they want to play a game for a few mins I don’t know what these companies are thinking when making things. I was not aware of the problems with updating this controller in the NACON app when you do the update it will mess up your right side analog stick. Every game that you go into it will auto aim at the sky. And there is nothing you can do to fix it. You won’t be able to do the calibration. The update bricks the controller in the software.

Doesn’t turn on
As I much have love for the company right now I have gotten 2 of these in the past week they sat on charger for a full night. And unplugged them and the won’t turn on. Won’t hold a charge.will turn on when plugged in. But won’t hold a charge. Customer service couldn’t figure it out and all Amazon says is refund. Yet this is the second time I have requested a refund for this. I only wanted one.

No charge port for phone itself
6 Month Update: I’ve had this for 6 months now and while I still don’t like the idea of it now having a charger, it’s still the best one that I was able to find out of the many that I tried buying. I had originally stated that it feels like the phone will slip out, but never once has that happened during my time of game play. It connects easily via Bluetooth, I can play with a bulky phone case on, I’m content. Original Review: Review: Based off my experience connected via Steam Link. After purchasing The Backbone and not having it fit my iPhone 14 despite all my efforts (even after taking off the case), I tried purchasing the RIG Nacon MG-X Pro. It fit my iPhone 14, even with the Defender case on - great start! So why only 2 stars? It never felt like the phone itself was properly secured into an actual base. It hooked up easily enough, but I didn’t like the idea that my phone may pop out while I’m playing randomly. My biggest complaint was that the controller didn’t have a charge port for my phone itself, so in the long run when my iPhone’s battery life starts dropping, I’m going to need something to keep it charged in. The controller itself has a great feel to it, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say about it.

Feels great coming from an Xbox controller
Works with my iPhone 14 Pro Max, I’ve been using XBPlay to remote play and everything works fine. Also used Dolphin iOS for Gamecube emulation with no issues. Feels very close to an Xbox One controller.

Cheaper than official controllers but works perfectly
Let me start by saying that I got this controller on sale with 40% off, and I'm reviewing based on the price I paid, and will go into whether I think it's worth it at full price later. I have quite big hands and thick fingers, and even the official full sized controllers are a little petite for me although still perfectly usable, if a little bit cramped. I was looking for a phone controller to take on the go as I'd been using a phone clip and official controller. Whilst this works perfectly (probably the most reliable remote gaming experience with using an official product), the phone clip is what made me get this Nacon phone controller. When Im out, I feel that the phone clip is quite flimsy and I don't feel safe just throwing it in a bag as there are very small thin pieces of important plastic that if broken will render the clip not usable. I wanted something robust that I can just throw in my bag and have less risk of breaking. Also, in certain positions the phone clip feels too top heavy, and in others too front heavy, so it's very difficult to find that sweet spot for longer sessions using a clip. As I mentioned before I have big hands and although there are certainly many smaller, more portable offerings on the market, I wanted something that won't give me carpel tunnel after 20 minutes. This solves any discomfort that the smaller controllers have, and although the feel of the controller is quite bulky compared, it definitely is on the lighter side, even with an iPhone 15. With my phone attached it's still a similar weight than just my official Xbox controller on its own! This is great for longer gaming sessions, and for comfort in short bursts. I do want to bring up some slight negative things about it too, such as as the actual feel of the plastic. It's that scratchy tappy sounding plastic, which is probably a huge reason why the controller is so light, so I can live with that. Not to say that the product feels cheap, it's very well made and super sturdy, even with the moveable parts. Negative point 2. The clickiness of the buttons are quite a bit louder than an official controller, but they are very tactile and you know when you've pressed them, as they have a satisfying button press feel, regardless of the noise. The bumper buttons are a little light and sometimes may accidentally press as they don't have much resistance, but triggers are excellent and probably the best in class as far as mobile gaming controller triggers go. And finally, the iPhone version isn't Xbox branded on the device, and I miss my XBOX guide button! I'm exaggerating, but it would have been nice for apple to allow this type of branding, just to finish the device off that little bit more as this is branded and licenced by xbox. The Android one has XBOX branding but doesn't work with iPhone, which is a bit of a shame, but again it works the same. That's all I can think of for negatives, but I'll need more time with the controller to find anything else, and will update if anything else arrises. The controller, although it has some minor issues is an absolute joy for larger hands, or for that console controller feel, and is an absolute steal at $60 on sale. An absolute no brainier for me! At full $99 price, is it worth it. Yes. Yes it is. And if you were to get it and didn't like it you can always return it as amazon are excellent with returns. I will say at the $99 price point there may be something more suited to your needs/preference, but at $60 on sale its a brilliant deal! I'll summarise with this; If you are large handed, prefer console controllers and have a clip but want something less finicky or more balanced, to just throw in a bag and not worry about, and is easy to use, then this is absolutely for you, Android or iPhone. It says it fits phones up to 6.7 inches, but I feel there's more room for even up to or close to 7 inches. I keep my case on and although it doesn't slot in, the spring is more than wide enough and sturdy enough to hold my phone in place, and my phone isn't going to just fall out. Unless I shake it like a lunatic, which I won't be doing, as this isn't a Wii controller. So my final thoughts are that this controller is an absolutely perfect alternative to an official controller and clip, and even with its drawbacks, they are so minor (to me, these could be deal breakers for some), that it doesn't change my 5/5 rating for this product. As an addition, someone posted saying there was no way to turn off the controller. there is as it's the same as an official controller. Hold the home button for 7-8 second or until the red light turns off. When the lights are off the controller is off. I've tested this and it is fully off when you do this. I hope this review is helpful to you, and I will update if I remember anything else. Cheers! EDIT; I will be leaving my original review up, as this could be an isolated issue, so my main review could still stand for some of you out there. This is my experience though so will leave this information here also. After a couple of weeks with the controller, it has been returned. The reason is stick drift. It's unplayable. This is such a shame! Everything else was great, the buttons held up exceptionally well, the triggers stayed super smooth, and even the right stick was flawless. The left stick, and probably the most important stick to some, became so unusable. I took great care of the controller and kept it secured, so I don't know what happened other than either cheap parts or a faulty unit. Still, I tried recalibration through the app and resetting the device with a pin at the back, but it appeared to be a hardware fault, not software or firmware. This is really disappointing as most of my main review is still what I think about the product!! But breaking to an unusable state in 2 weeks? Not good at all. The 2 stars are for the positives that I still believe about the device, it loses 3 stars due to the catastrophic stick drift. Should Nacon produce a successor with hall effect sticks and more sturdy materials then I would absolutely buy in a heartbeat as this is still a super comfy controller. Maybe I was unlucky with my unit, but will not be trying a replacement. Instead I will be moving on to try the Gamesir G8 Galileo, as this seems similar but with hall effect sticks and triggers, so hopefully no unusable stick issues! Hopefully anyway.
