BEST BOOK ON MICRO:BIT
I've been looking for a good book on MICRO:BIT,, and THE OFFICIAL BBC MICRO:BIT USER GUIDE is it.It's a wealth of information on MICRO:BIT and it's easy to read.Lots of examples with clear explanations. One flaw is that all the screen-shot photos are in black-and-white.Color would vastly improve the readability. But it's the best book on MICRO:BIT I've found so far.

Great introduction to BBC micro
Great introduction to BBC micro:bit for beginners. I like the simple language and examples in all three main languages (JS Blocks, JS, and Python).

A beginners book for the BBC micro:bit and basic coding in JavaScript Blocks, JavaScript or Python.
The book is nicely laid out with each chapter building upon the last, but essentially as a lot of reviewers have said I don't think so. it is a Basic Beginners book teaching you the basics of modern computing, it even goes out of scope to cover the wider subject but does not wonder to much. In the back of the book it does lead on to more complex projects that can be achieved with the micro:bit to round it out. It does cover the there main languages used to teach coding with the micro:bit, JavaScript Blocks (I believe is a port of Scratch), JavaScript and then Python I would not recommended this book as a way too learn these languages but more as a way to test the waters to see if you or the child you bought the micro:bit for actual enjoys coding and tinkering in micro electronics. The book is printed on almost Bible (sorry do not mean to offend anyone) thin paper as you can see through to the other side, luckily it does not interfere with reading unless you are reading outside in the sun or with a backlight like a window. But as I said this being a Beginners book and they will be reading holding this in one hand a tying code with another then it should not be a problem. One other thing the book does take me back a bit in programming to early days of coding as It is entirely in black and white, I know most programming references are B&B but they do have different coloured headers at lest to break up the trudger of reading through them. Please do not get me wrong the book is not a trudge in fact it is quite lightly written to keep the learner entertained compared to some companies books (O'Reilly early books). So if you are a beginner in coding and are looking for a cheap book to read to help you on your way then this is the book for you, you will not be disappointed and once you have tried the three main languages you will be in good stead to more on and learn more about one, all three or even try one like C/C++ to code you micro:bit with. There is additional resources covered at the back and the thing I liked about that is I believe that they are all free as long as you have the internet! So read learn and more on.This book will not help you if you need technical help with either code or electronics.

Should you buy this with your micro:bit? No, you should get it before..
A very good book, such a good book, that not only should it be an essential purchase with the micro:bit, I would recommend getting the book before getting the micro:bit.Although the book contains a lot of information about how to create with the micro:bit, it also goes into a good deal about the ecosystem and some of the various other things you can do with the bit, involving external peripherals and connecting to other bits for example. Invariably this involves investing in further hardware and accessories. Reading this book before buying could well end up saving you some money, as you can work out ahead of time the other equippment you will want to buy, so you can look for collections and offers that include most of what you are after.Once you have the bit, this book brings you a lot of fantastic little example programs to get you going. Of course, as mentioned in the book, even here, you don't need a micro:bit, as you can write and run code in an emulator, the bit only becomes neccesary to show off your inventions to others. This is a complete overview of the capabilities of the micro bit. It goes into a little depth, but it's main strength is the breadth of information it contains. Definitely recommended.

Contains a moderate amount of useful information
This book goes most of the way toward being very useful. I'm being a bit critical (one stars worth of grumble) because I'm a bit fed up with dumbed down books starving brains of their enthusiasm. To be honest, it could be half as thick and twice as informative, but since it isn't horribly bad I have given it four stars because it does contain useful information and is better than others. It's a book that I'd say should be borrowed from the library as it's very doubtful you'll need to refer back to it once you've read it once.

Good but not easy to read
There's a lot of detail which is well organised but it's all in a quite small black typeface on fairly thin paper with vast amounts of white space. There is no colour used anywhere and a lot of the pictures are very grey.

The Official BBC micro:bit User Guide
Just under 300page, lots of the information is available within this book but you could source from different websites etc. but you would need to go find them in separate places. I like that it is in a single book that can be picked and put down when needed, It also helps you to progress on to little more advanced steps that you might not be able to leap towards.
