HP CD974AE 920XL High Yield Original Ink Cartridge, Yellow, Single Pack

I bought this item from Amazon on 16th Oct 15, when I installed my previous cartridge, as like may people, I always like to have one on hand, rather than waiting for the ink to run out, then having to wait several days without a printer for the new one to arrive.As the cartridges don't always run out at the same time, I had installed one or two of the colours, before the Black Cartridge said it needed to be replaced.When I replaced the Black Cartridge, I thought nothing more of it. But the next time I printed, even though the Cartridge Indicator showed full (and still does, the black part of the print didn't print. I took it out and installed it again, and it still didn't work. So I wasn't sure if ti was the cartridge or printer playing up, though the printer has worked perfectly for years.So I had to rummage in the bin for the previous Black cartridge, which I re-installed. It showed empty on the indicator but was able to scrape out a black print fine. So I re-installed the new Cartridge and it then printed ok.Now 3 or 4 weeks later, even though the Cartridge is still showing Full, it has stopped again, and only the colours are printing. I've just gone to the Orders page to process a return, so Amazon can track what's wrong with this with their supplier, but it says I have passed the time.With items like this, which you need to buy before you need them, so you don't have days where you can't print, there should be a longer return time.

These cartridges are generally excellent.This time around there was a fault with the magenta cartridge. The machine rejected it. Fortunately I had another in stock so I wasn't left without a working printer.I tried to get back to HP to resolve it but all I got was a frequently asked questions page. No one to put up their hand and apologise and give me another one that worked.If I had bought it from a shop I would have returned it and got a refund or replacement and an apology. But now I have just lost £15.I will try the cheap imitations next time. They are meant to be really good quality if you do your homework. Or maybe I'll use a shop.

AS ON THE BOX. LIKE ALL PRINTER CARTRIDGES: TOO EXPENSIVE. WHAT A RIP OFF MOST PRINTERS ARE. MOST PRINTERS ARE CHEAP, NOT EASY TO REPAIR AND NOT THAT RELIABLE: THAT APPLIES TO HP, EPSON, CANNON. I MUST HAVE AROUND 20 SITTING ON THE JUNK PILE. ALSO NEW PRINTERS DON'T SEEM TO WORK UNLESS YOU HAVE WINDOWS 10. THE CARTRIDGE SETS OFTEN COST MORE THAN THE PRINTER. IF YOU BUY A NEW PRINTER THE OLD CARTRIDGES HAVE USUALLY BEEN MADE OBSOLETE. TOTAL RIP OFF.

Bought this "genuine" cartridge thinking it would not be a problem at all (I also used the cartridges from that big auction site - but needed a new chip as the old one stopped working).Installed this and first thing I know the printer starts throwing an error+asks me to take out the cartridges and install them again.I opened the printer door and took out the cartridge and it was leaking all over.After half an hour of wiping the printer, the printhead then washing my hands, I try to install it again and same thing.Call Amazon, as usual they were amazing, and it's on it's way back.*** Never *** again a HP printer (check my other review), TYVM.

Having tried other, cheaper makes of printer ink for my HP printer in the past, with unreliable results, I now stick to HP's original ink, despite the price. Buying it online is nevertheless cheaper than from shops, and the large pack lasts a long time & is the best buy.

The colour Inks are all fine, however the black is extremely faded - According to the data, The print head is fine on printer etc, how can I tell?? Feel like I've been robbed... now if me just went to Staple's or Pc World, I'd have an option?after about twenty pages there nearly out of ink and the bl;ack still not working, A V O I D!!!!!

Cartridges do not come in the hp packaging, but of a generic type. They are refills. The colours worked ok and went into the printer OK. The black one poured ink out onto my desk and hands and never got near my printer! I obtained a replacement from the supplier, eventually, who asked me to return the faulty one. They did not send a bag for this return. I asked for a bag but have never sent it. I still have the faulty item. The new one is OK. I am very nervous about using this supplier again. I could so easily have ruined my printer. Their level of service is not to be recommended.

This is the second time I have ordered from this company. This time the combo pack came as a single black cartridge with a good ink date. The colour cartridges came in a office jet value box which also included 50 sheets of Matt HP paper to make presentation sheets with all the ink dates being August 2015 therfore already several months out of date. I have installed all the cartridges and they have been recognised as original HP cartridges and so far they are printing ok but again it is early days. Only time will tell if these fail like some other customers have reported.
