I've had this style before and the last one cracked from freezing, even though it said otherwise. Overall, well made and easy to install and use. Cost a little less than similar gauges.One reviewer said the lettering came off after one season, and time will tell on my new one. Gauges get lots of UV exposure, and the scale is applied with vinyl or silk screen. Will it last?Another reviewer complained that it did not come with screws, which were then hard to size. But the screws you will use depend on the mounting, wood or metal. Try a No. 6 pan head sheet metal screw (for metal or wood surfaces, of appropriate length) that will pass through the hole and into the slot on the bottom of the gauge. Measure for location and then install one screw. Leave enough depth, then pass the gauge over the screw head and lower into the slot. Plumb the gauge and tighten to hold. Pilot the second hole at the top of the slot and install the second screw. Tighten both, but not enough to crack the plastic.One reviewer complained that it was not as easy to read as you would expect, and they are correct. The dark blue background and white lines are hypnotic, centered down the middle as they are. A better design might have the lines on the left only (with alternating offset lengths) and the numbers on the right.

Replaced non-reliable digital Accurite. Back to the basics b/c it works. The accurite rusted on the inside and although I like digital reading, not sure of the reliability whereas I know how much rain we are getting with this one - as long as you don't forge to empty it after each use. Would buy again.

This is my second of these gauges. First one developed cracks along a seam, probably due to cold weather. Caused it leak all rain above 2.5 inches. Keeping fingers crossed. This plastic product was also shipped in a plain paper bag, with no protection whatsoever. Do better, Amazon!

It’s a rain gauge…it work and is easy to read.
