Max and Chaffy: Welcome to Animal Island! (from the million-selling Jamie Smart, Illustrator of the Year)

I bought this for my 5 year old who’s starting to do more independent reading.It’s a comic style book like dogman and Bunny vs Monkey which his older brother loves.My 5 year old loved this book and wanted to try and read it himself.I’ve even bought the other two books in the series.A big thumbs up from my 5 year old.

My son loved this book. Really engaging story and made his feel grown up as was reading a proper book like his brother who reads Jamie Smart books.FYI: He’s at reading level yellow / light blue which is Oxford Owl level 3/4 and he smashed it. Needed help on a couple of words but generally read it all.

My son has read all of Jamie’s books. He was a bit too old for Max and Chaffy but my daughter loved them and read them all by herself and she is only 5 and started to read.

...laughs her socks off whilst reading these! Not the longest of books but they deffo get a re read.

A lovely adventure book that entices my kids of various ages, 3 -8

My 6 year old got the first 3 books as a birthday gift and she loved them. She’s a big Jamie Smart fan - she has lots of Bunny vs Monkey books - Max & Chaffy is great for this age group and up.

Well that was fun! Max and Chaffy will be perfect for our KS1 children (and let’s be honest, the older ones will love this too!). I loved the finding aspect of this - loads of looking and searching opportunities in this fun little adventure!

My 5 year old daughter loves this book.Characters and illustration quality are top notch. The "can you find xyz?" spreads are a lot of fun, and the language is easy enough to read together.Would highly recommend.
