An Essential Guide to a Dense Subject
With the fluctuating nature of Bitcoin’s value, it’s best to get an understanding of cryptocurrency now, before you try and invest in it. That’s why I picked up a copy of Abraham K. White’s Cryptocurrency 2nd Edition: Mining, Investing, and Trading Bitcoin Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Dash, Gridcoin, Iota, Digibyte, Dogecoin, Emercoin, Putincoin, Auroracoin and Others. This book, while not a light read, contains a lot of useful information for those looking into mining and/or investing in cryptocurrency, from the pros and cons of virtual money to the different kinds of cryptocurrency.First off, I am not someone who is usually into this sort of thing. I’ve only been curious about it for its economic implications and how I might be able to benefit from it financially. I’m just about clueless about the technological aspects of the process. That’s why I had to re-read many sections of this book. It was no fault of White’s writing; his writing is smooth and uses as simple and straightforward a vocabulary as one can with this topic. Regardless, those of us without a computer science background (professional or amateur) should take our time digesting this material in order to fully understand it.Still, White could have helped the reader’s understanding more with an improved book structure. While I agree with his method of framing the chapters on the different cryptocurrencies (rather than starting or ending with them), I don’t think he should end on a chapter about blockchains. The chapter is necessary, and I was glad to have it. (I could not understand the concept at all without it, let alone evaluate the pros and cons of the system.) However, I would have loved it earlier in the book so that I could have more knowledge of the system before reading about the different cryptocurrency platforms. Having a conclusion discussing the writer’s personal thoughts on cryptocurrency would have also given the book a personal, advice-like touch and tie the entire book together. The best part of this book is that it’s not just a how-to guide to investing and/or mining cryptocurrency. It’s also a history of the entire industry, from its beginnings with Bitcoin to the several cryptocurrency platforms which have emerged in recent years. This history made the book much more interesting, and it was easier to get a feel for the appeal of virtual money.Overall, White’s book is an essential guide to this rising trend. With cryptocurrency’s value currently going down, it might be a wise idea to invest in it while it’s more affordable. If the discussions in Cryptocurrency are any indicator, this lull is only temporary. Yet before you can properly invest, you need to read White’s work and make a judgment as to which cryptocurrency is the best bet for you. I don’t know if I’ll be taking the time and money to do this, but I’m glad to have a better understanding of the trend.

Very In-Depth Book About Coins
I've been learning about crypto and investing in crypto since the beginning of this year (2018). Not very long, I know. Because of the way I learn new things, I knew I would eventually buy a few books about cryptocurrency. I bought four so far and these are listed in my order of preference: Getting Started with Crypto Trading, Cryptocurrency Investing Bible, Cryptocurrency 2018 - Mining, Investing and Trading in Blockchain, Cryptocurrency Investing for Dummies.I will tell you right off the bat that all of these books have very useful information in them. The problem for me is that all of them have a lot of grammatical errors and typos in them. My guess as to the reason for this is because these "authors" are actually investors and/or techie guys who decided to write a book. They should have also invested in a good editor. There's a lot of ground to cover in these books and your brain needs to focus primarily on this without tripping over typos and grammatical errors. For me, this ruins the thought process. If you are not the type of person who has a good understanding of technology, you may have some trouble comprehending some of the material in these books. I don't fault the authors for this, however. Cryptocurrency is a very complex subject, especially if you are not a programmer or software developer. I'm a techie guy myself and I still do not fully understand all of the concepts of cryptocurrency. I believe that you should have a good understanding of something before you invest in it. If you're the type of person who can invest in something (and make money) without knowing too much about it, and aren't technically inclined, then perhaps this won't be a problem for you.I bought these books primarily for learning about trading in the crypto marketplace, reading charts, candlesticks, and developing a better "crystal ball". Before getting involved in cryptocurrency, I had zero experience in investing in anything. Getting Started with Crypto Trading scores big points in this area. A lot of time is spent on this subject and the author does a great job at laying it all out for you. Cryptocurrency 2018 spends very little time in this area, and is mainly a book about coins. If you want to go in depth about these coins, this would be a good book to get.The last thing I should tell you is that the cryptocurrency world changes FAST, and these books are already showing signs of being outdated. Especially in reference to the current prices of the coins. The concepts of cryptocurrency won't change much, at least for 2018. Given this, these books will have some shelf life for this year.

Great book for learning about small coins
I enjoyed "Cryptocurrency 2018" by Abraham K White. The author has a way of writing about complicated information so that it can be understood by the laymen. I got this book as a reference for entering the crypto markets and it was helpful in determining good investments to make on the exchange. Specifically, Whites book delves into some nitty-gritty details of the technological construction and programming protocols for smaller coins. However, since the markets are so up and down from day to day, some of the coins mentioned - like DGB and DOGE - don't seem to be adhering to the authors analysis. Overall, an informative read and I recommend it to anyone who is entering the cryptocurrency market in 2018. It might not not prove to be correct in its predictions 100% of the time, but it provides knowledgeable and informative analysis of Bitcoin, Ethereum, LiteCoin, and more.

Really well written and informative.
I have read a lot of different resources about cryptocurrency. If you are looking into this type of currency, then you'll find a lot of great information in this book. The author did a great job of explaining what the currency actually is and how you can get it yourself. I found the glossary in the back to be very helpful, because they took the time to define all the lingo. If you don't understand what mining is or any of the other words, you can get lost really quickly.Understanding the process behind cryptocurrency is a really important aspect to being able to buy into the system. If you don't understand where currency like Bitcoin or others even comes from, then you're going to have a hard time investing in this. This form of currency is one you will want to learn more about and this book will do exactly that. The entire process is explained from conception to you completion.

Loads of info about all types of coins. Over whelming somewhat, but a good reference guide.A good starter book

and poor grammar. Even worse
This book is riddled with typos, and poor grammar. Even worse, it relies on terms commonly used by someone with an understanding of crypto currencies without actually explaining those terms. Save your money.

Loved it, amazing!

Interesting
Good enough to learn about cryptocurrencies from zero. Those not familiar with them might struggle at some points, but in general everybody can learn from this book. The chapters about the different currencies are interesting but will be outdated very quickly
