Solaxx ROB10A Harmony Robotic Cleaner

I bought this from Amazon Warehouse Deals a couple months ago and I have to say I'm very impressed. This is my first robotic pool cleaner after several years of owning the suction-operated pool cleaners so I was shocked to see it climb the walls all the way to the waterline as well as climbing the stairs in the pool. It does a great job as a stand-alone cleaner and the operation is very simple as is cleaning it between uses. I'm also looking forward to converting my pool over to salt when the weather starts to warm up. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase.**UPDATE**I also have to amend my review. At first it seemed like it was a great cleaner and then I started noting the quirks that got progressively more annoying. I would start a 90-minute cleaning cycle and it would run for maybe five minutes (or not at all) then would go into standby mode. The cleaner behaved the same way in auto mode and chlorinator only mode. I contacted Solaxx, who suggested that I contact the company they outsourced to obtain warranty service. After several phone calls and lots of time on hold I got my cleaner repaired under warranty. While it is performing marginally better, it's still not performing as described in the manual. I can manually brush and vac the pool in less time than it takes to get the cleaner to run for more than a few minutes at a time. Now I see that Solaxx doesn't list it as one of their products on their website. It seemed like a good idea but it's not even close to meeting expectations.

I have had my Harmony for 10 months and it just doesn't clean the pool at all. The filters collect calcium from the on board chlorination process. The fabric in the filter wears quickly and several sections of the filter panels collect calcium and become stiff, even with daily rinsing. The calcium really doesn't clean up and it just ruins the filters.When the chlorination unit is working properly it is great and keeps the water crystal clear (allowing the dirt on the pool bottom to be seen clearly) but the unit builds up excessive deposits of calcium and requires constant cleaning. The basket handles must be lifted all the way up to release the retainer that holds them in place. The calcium collects around the baskets making them very difficult to remove for cleaning and putting a strain on the handles when you try to pull the baskets out. The handles are held in with little plastic pins that spring into place. These pins have broken off on both of my handles because of the difficulty in removing the baskets. To prevent the problem you actually have to scrape the calcium off the basket and the machines edges in order to get the baskets out without having to pry them out. For what the unit is intended to do the price seemed great, however, it just doesn't do the job!

I have owned my share of pool cleaners: Polaris, Hayward, Aqua Jet, and others. All did a decent job of cleaning, differing mainly in convenience of use and reliability. And then there is Harmony. It is in a class by itself. After a three hour session the only way I can tell it even ran are by the little trails it leaves in the dirt. The rotating brush is completely worthless because it doesn't make contact with the surface of the plaster. Worst pool purchase ever.
