Well Made; Worthwhile Investment.
I have been using the Kestral 2000 wind meter for over three years and have found it to be reliable and consistent. It is well built and comes with a very handy slide out/in protective case to protect the read out face, which makes it safe to store in a coat pocket. It can also be hung around the neck if desired. The battery cover has an O ring seal to protect the electronics from rain etc.Most of all I wanted a calibrated instrument that I could have confidence in, because previously I used a cheap generic wind meter made in china, where I knew the accuracy of the thermometer was way out and therefore questioned the accuracy of the wind speed readings I obtained.One of the bayonet mounts (similar to a 35 mm camera lens) on the rear of the battery cover broke after roughly a year of use (cause not known; may have simply been unlucky), but Kestral produces spares so I was able to easily replace the battery cover. Problem has not occurred since but purchased an additional spare battery cover just in case.I use the wind meter whenever I go bird & wildlife watching because I like to record the weather conditions of the day.

Rugged and sensitive.
This is the only anemometer I've ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to but it seems very well made and - as far as I can tell - accurate. It's obviously quite a delicate instrument but it's been made as ruggedly as possible and has a well designed protective cover and lanyard. It feels like it'll last a long time.

Not good
My daughter got this as Xmas present for her husband, only 2 lots of figures on it that didn’t move, returned to Amazon within the week, money refunded no problem, daughter re ordered direct from Kestral, all ok.

Kestrel 2000
Used for the first time this weekend. It would not read true. What ever I did it read the same. I was near the top of Ben Arthur in a mini blizzard and the Kestrel was reading 22.5°C and 10kph! In howling wind and sleet. Confidence factor is now zero. Buy again? Not a chance. Waste of £100.

got this kestrel 2000 in December and it came on a walk wid me 2 day and it is very gud.the wind chill woz down to -8.5 very cool.its a must buy.
