Just beautiful! A MUST READ!!
"Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don't belong no place. They come to a ranch an' work up a stake, and the first thing you know they're poundin' their tail on some other ranch. They ain't got nothing to look ahead to.".Of Mice and Men needs no introduction and anything I write in it’s praise is going to fall short for the masterpiece that it is..This is a story about two migrant ranch workers who move from place to place in California in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in the United States. While George is intelligent but uneducated, Lennie is physically strong but mentally disabled. They look out for one another, trying to scrap by and save enough money for their big dream - a place of their own..The trouble starts soon after they reach their new job and George mixes up with other workers while Lennie cannot keep himself out of trouble..I have never felt so many emotions reading a 100 pages! Tragic, Beautiful unsettling prose, the character descriptions and growth, everything written with such brilliance!.I’m amazed at how something so simple can be so powerful and impactful! It was emotionally draining but I absolutely loved reading this for it’s ease and for Lennie!I give this⭐⭐⭐⭐.75/5 and highly recommend this to everyone!

Of Mice and Men - Beautiful and haunting exploration of human fragility
"Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck is a frightening exploration of friendship, loneliness, tough choices, the fragility of dreams and working class life. The novel follows the lives of George Milton and Lennie Small - two drifters bound together by a deep but complicated friendship. George - sharp featured, quick-witted and protective, also shoulders the caring responsibility for Lennie - innocent and immensely strong - which makes him both endearing and dangerous. It paints the vivid imagery and colors of ranches, and the deprived lonely life of workers. Behind the facades and masks, the characters are heartbreakingly human - Curley’s aggression, Candy’s despair, and Crook's loneliness reflect the isolation and desperation of the era.In the midst of this bleakness, George and Lennie’s shared and elusive dream of owning a place of their own shines like a fragile beacon of hope. Its power lies in the honesty about the human condition. Despite their closed knitted friendship and a shared dream, life gives him no choice except to blow his friend's head, just to make the death less painful for him. That bullet in the Lennie's skull, puts an end to his existence, and also their shared dream of a less torturous existence.Steinbeck master fully captures the beauty and cruelty of life, making "Of Mice and Men" not just a story about two men chasing a dream, but an exploration of human dilemmas. The story of George and Lennie shows what it means to be a human, and stays with us for long.

I found my favourite character from this story.
If anyone asks me to recommend a short classic story precisely an American classic literature, then I will definitely recommend John Steinbeck's books to them, The Pearl or Of Mice And Men.Now coming to the story, Of Mice And Men,It's a story of George and Lennie, of their friendship, loneliness, unfulfilled dreams during the time of Great Depression .I loved the way Steinbeck drew Lennie's character, where Lennie possesses strong physical strength but has the mind capability of a child .I'm sure you will love his innocence if you will read it once !! (And you know what I have now my favorite fictional character 🙈)Steinbeck didn't forget to raise the issue of Racism and Sexism through this novella and I think this is the credibility of such kind of proficient world class writer.Values of friendship and loyalty and how they can be tested during financial crisis, ??How should our society treat a mentally disabled child ??.... again this story make me think about these things..

Best novella
Beautiful written. A touching sad and unfortunate tale. A short story that does not need completion. A clumsy giant who faces the wrath of his time.

A must read
Compared to Dostoevsky or Turgnev or even his compatriot Faulkner, John Steinbeck is in a class apart. Whether you are in your 20's or 60's, you should have read Steinbeck to consider yourself literate.
