Great Book
This book details the various ways to use Stata to clean and organize data. It has very helpful examples that make understanding concepts simple. It is particularly great as a reference manual with easy to find solutions to most any problem. One of the best books on Stata I have ever read, if you are a beginner with Stata it will definitely get you started and if you are familiar with Stata already it will bring you to the next level.

This is a very useful book
This book is well organized, well written, and provides a wealth of useful information on data management. Getting your data into shape for analysis is often one of the biggest tasks in a statistical project. If you're new to Stata (which I am, though I have experience with other statistical software), this acquaints you with the wealth of data management tools available. It doesn't cover every last detail, but once you know which commands will do what you want, getting additional details from the Stata help is easy. Having recently started using Stata, I've bought a half dozen books on various aspects of Stata. I go back to this one over and over and always find what I need quickly. The book is self-contained within topics, so you don't need to read the whole thing or understand chapters 1 through 6 to use something from chapter 7, for example. But it does provide useful cross-references, such as "Section xx gives further examples of the use of yyy." This book easily returns its value in time and headaches saved.

Good reference book.
As a data manager, I reference this book a few times a week during the course of my day. While it does answer some questions, it definitely doesn't handle them all. For example, I needed to know how to iterate over any chosen variable...down all observations, etc...and this book didnt' help much. On the other hand, it had perfect examples on how to reorder the date from long to wide views. All in all...I find it worth having on my desktop and am happy with the purchase, but it is not a 1 stop shop.

for beginners and experts
This book illustrates the use of several data management techniques using Stata, from data cleaning, import and export, labeling and creating variables to combining datasets, in-depth use of egen command including _n and _N higlights, and programming.I would recommend it for Stata beginners just as for experts, because it introduces beginners with all basic syntax to Stata und presents experts new and practically usage of known syntax. Besides, the book recommends some additional user written Stata modules to work with.

A great reference book for how to deal with data.
I really like how this book is easy to browse and has clear examples of the commands. I am no expert in Stata (very green in fact), but this book is easy to understand and very useful to anyone who needs to find a quick solution to a problem, or wants to know how to deal with their often-not-perfect data. You can use it for the simple stuff; as a refresher or learn more complicated tricks. Well worth it.
