Superb little fix for a common problem
These are great. I’ve had my Brabantia bin since 2007. It’s use LOADS because it’s the kitchen bin.Last year after years of use, the lid stopped latching properly. It started to take three or four attempts to close the lid.Initially I simply pulled the catch out (it pops out very easily if you push from the back with a flat blade knife or screwdriver). I the flipped the catch and put it back in, which worked great for about 8 months, but eventually it started to not latch again.I bought 2 of these catchers to fix it properly. I fully expected the first to break because all the other reviews claim they broke the 1st one. Mine however worked perfectly 1st time - maybe because it previously removed and flipped the old latch?Anyway, this is months later and it’s still working perfectly and I still have the second latch as a spare too. So if you’re careful and watch what you’re doing, there’s no reason I can see that one of the latches will break. If your bin still wont catch when you’ve replaced the spring latch, it could be that the plastic peg, the bit that sticks out, has worn. It had a little “hat” on it, like a ridge, and when this wears down, which it will at some point, you need to replace that peg. There is another seller who has these pegs - I’ve not needed one yet, but they look dead easy to fit. You just snap the old one off and slide the replacement on top of where it was. I see no reason or wouldn’t work perfectly. So it seems you can keep your Brabantia bin going forever if you can be bothered. You can buy a new lid from the manufacturer, but it’s £40+ I think. Why would you bother when you can fix it so easily with these?I can’t recommend them enough. They are very good.

not convinced about the quality
these haven’t lasted long (ones already clean broken). otherwise they do the job 👍

Works as advertised
Our bin’s like Trigger’s broom—countless replacement parts, including catches, but I won’t splurge on a new lid. This catch is fantastic, a bit more secure than the original, which is fine by me. Hoping it lasts a long time!

It just worked!
I was a bit suspicious, but that was misplaced as it slotted immediately into place and works exactly as intended. I also like the idea of there being two as no doubt I will again drop the lid in exactly the way to wreck this replacement catch...

Need both parts!!
Pointless ordering this part without the male part that goes into it £8.99 with postage, waste of money!!

Worked fine - kind of!
It's not immediately obvious how to get the old catches out of the bin lid, so landed up cracking them up with a pair of pliers and taking out from the back. Once removed the new catches slot in from the front very easily. Experience with the new catches is a bit patchy. They seem to stick slightly (despite a dose of WD40) so that the bin lid doesn't always stay shut. You can fiddle them with your finger and they release and work for a while then stick again. Bizarrely I found that if I always shut the bin lid with my finger on the right hand side of the centre it always works … hmm … something to do with alignment. The bin is about 12 years old so may have to bite the bullet and buy a new complete lid assembly or even new bin complete. I guess for the price it is worth giving these catches a go to see if they work for you. I did buy a pack of two so may try putting the other one in.

does what it says (3 month review)
It's tiny, in fact smaller than you expect. I have a bin that I think is nearly 30 years(?) old and credit to Brabantia that clip worked all that time and the bin is in perfect shape. I remember buying it and it was expensive so proof that quality pays for itself. In writing this, I now feel very old. (BTW just had to do the maths at approx 10 opening/closing of the bin per day that around 110K presses of the Brabantia clip...wow).I checked and the replacement cost for the whole lid was very expensive (shocker). Bought this and installing it sounds way way harder then it actually is. the web reviews made it sound about 500 times more complex.1. get the old one out, i pulled the 'legs' of the old one, it came out and then the whole body of the clip came out. one pliers, 30 seconds done...keep in mind i probably have V1 of this bin (the one made when dinosaurs roamed the earth).2. push fit replacement and it clicks into place.3. close lid, open lid, close lid and enjoy your revitalised bin and the glorious click of a lid secured.3 months or so later, still working fine. Im sure it wont last the next 30 years -- but replacing it every now and then, fine i can live with it.Also i sellotaped the second one so i would not loose it. Unfortunately, it sellotaped somewhere in the house now, that made perfect sense at the time. So put the second one somewhere you wont loose it. It is tiny by the way.but definite recommend to save your expensive bin.
