Useful card reader for my new laptop.

Bought this as the variety of cards it’s compatible with is very good. Simple to use. Build quality isn’t amazing but good value for money.

Very useful multi disk reader.

So I've had a bit of an awkward setup for professional video production, with lots of different card readers, so I wanted one that could take more than one SD card at a time. I usually have 4 to 6 cards after a big shoot so have two in one reader, and using my other two single card readers saves a lot of time. It means I can set and forget, especially for smaller two cam setups. Otherwise I have to linger around the computer waiting to swap the next card in.So far they seem to run quickly. I will say the USB A side is very tight and stiff to pull out. It genuinely takes a bit of effort to get it out of the USB, so that may just be a mild annoyance or a random fault. So maybe check other reviews to see if that's a trend when deciding to buy it.But really, it's cheap, and very practical having lots of options and would buy it again.

I purchased this to see if it would speed-up transfer of images compared to the one I was using which was slow. This gadget increased the transfer speed several times over and transfers now done in seconds which were previously taking me several minutes.

Bought to have multiple databanks for notes but unfortunately it only supports 2 cards simultaneously instead of 5 unlike it was described in add. If that's the issue, I won't recommend it for purchase.

I wanted to like this, I wanted it to work, I picked it due to amazing reviews and am absolutely appalled at how rubbish and not fit for purpose this is. I have a 64GB 160MB/s Compact Flash card that I was trying to migrate to my computer - 48 hours after it started (I thought I would just leave it overnight and then forgot) it managed 20% and looking at logs randomly disconnected itself every couple of minutes. The connectors in the Compact Flash port are not all straight which won’t have helped, on the 4 separate computers I tried using this on the errors ranged from “Unable to read from device” to “There was a fault detected in your device”.- Doesn’t work on Windows 10 - 48 hours of nothing- Doesn’t work on Windows 11 - Disconnects every few minutes and then just finds a fault and disconnects device permanently- Doesn’t work on a Mac Studio Ultra with Mac OS 3 - Corrupt unreadable files- Doesn’t work on a very old (but reliable) MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard - Took an age to connect then complained it wasn’t readableSo… cheap looking, non-functioning on Mac or Windows… err… trying to find a positive… Ok the shade of purple the light occasionally goes is pretty :-DHave since bought a Lexar Professional Multi-Card reader which has migrated the contents in less than a minute - Do not buy this if you need to read Compact Flash as you will be disappointed and need to buy one that actually works - just buy one that works first time and save your time and money!

First thing I notice is how small this thing is - not so small it's fiddly to use (I have others that are the same size as a USB thumb drive) but it is easy to find a place for it on your desk. Mine I have attached to a vertical post using some heavy-duty Velcro and next to my StarTech 7-port USB hub (into which it is plugged). This is a good arrangement, it's easiy accessible and always available. It seems to work fine via a powered USB3 hub. One thing I don't like - and is common to most of these multi-slot adapters - is that as soon as it's connected it occupies 4 drive letters, regardless of whether there is a card inserted or not. Maybe not important for a laptop with few drives but for my desktop machine with 8 HDs and several mapped network drives then I prefer to only see a card (drive letter) that is actually in use. So for myself I only plug it in when it is needed. I only use SD, Micro-SD and Compact Flash cards, I tested it with just those types and it works fine. Not much else to say other than I now realise black is not the best colour - under subdued desk lighting at night you cannot see the slots at all so it's a fiddle to insert a card.
