Not 30 minutes, but definitely easy.
I bought this as a replacement for another Spalding hoop that was a multi-hour setup and breakdown. The setup on this is absolutely genius! The instructions were laid out very well, both via the video and printed booklet. I am a small (5’1”, 120lbs) but strong lady and I was able to completely unbox and begin the setup solo. There are definitely multiple steps that require 2 people - attaching the backboard and rim, and then raising the backboard and pole into the upright position and securing it. My 80yo 5’9” and in-shape father and I completed it without much difficulty (although a little more height on either one of us would have been helpful). In total it took about an hour, including unboxing, reviewing the video and written instructions, and then actually assembling the unit. All parts were packaged and labeled according to the associated step in the build. Nuts and screws threaded easily. This is a very sturdy unit with a large base and a pole/hoop that are situated more towards the center of the base. I filled the base with water and added 100lbs of sand on the rear of the base as extra precaution since it is on an ever-so-slight downhill slope. The raising and lower mechanism is so smooth my 11yo can do it with ease. My son loves the sound of the backboard, saying it doesn’t sound like the “cheap hoops some other kids have” 😆It’s more pricey than some other hoops, but in my opinion. the ease of assembly and overall sturdiness make the higher price worth it!

Great Hoop!
Great Hoop! We set up a nice 3 on three court in our driveway. Only negative-my grandson is a better baller than I am. Ticks me off.

Great hoop for the price
Very pleased with this purchase. So glad I didn't pay 2x-3x more for a hoop. I used the gel substance and water to fill the base and some tie down straps on the back, but this goal is rock solid. Minimal vibrations or rattling. That was my #1 concern when choosing portable vs. in-ground.2 "negative" comments:Spalding boasts 30 minutes or less for assembly. While I think that you could manage that if you studied and memorized the manual entirely beforehand, had all the proper tools at your fingertips, and decided not to use the molded plastic aesthetic pieces. The longest and most frustrating part of assembly was getting all of the holes to line up to attach the plastic pieces. For the main front piece, we had to put in the screws in the proper order or only 5 of 6 would line up. That took some trial and error. The second comment is that many shots, makes or misses, hit the base and can potentially go shooting off in unexpected directions. Just something to keep in mind if you live on busy street as I found myself racing down the driveway a couple of times to keep the ball out of the road.Overall, I expect this to be a very good hoop for the price point.

Went up fast.
It went up fast. Two of us put it together in the dead of winter in about 45 minutes. Good quality for the price.

Weak Base
We bought Spalding because of the name. Weak base this goal fell twice, paid Spalding $340 to replace cracked backboard first time, then it fell again we thought it was gust of wind, upon looking further barely any water in base so we filled it up full and 2 days later it was half so we then found a leak base! Crazy how the price of goal went up since, hard pass lots of other nice goals out there.

Bounces off the base constantly!
My goodness the way the base sticks out on this thing is frustrating. My kid makes a shot and the ball falls thought the net and ricochets off the corner of the base and it rolls across the street. And yes it’s level. Not just sometimes, 75% of the time! He doesn’t want to use it because he knows if there’s no one there to rebound and feed him he’s chasing the ball down the road or across the yard.Pros are that it installs quickly with a second set of hands. It’s sturdy and has lasted 2 seasons. But man, Spalding, what the heck… fix this design or include a ball feeder attachment!
