Used three times over the past year and it worked every time!
I've purchased this product three times for various aquariums I've set up and it has worked perfectly every time. You shake the bottle well, add the solution to the water and then make sure you stock the tank with fish shortly after. Now in the past I've cycled aquariums with ammonia solutions, transferring filter media and blindly adding fish food to an empty tank for a couple of weeks and hoping for the best! Safe Start works for me, and it means I'm not sat there looking at an empty algae farm for a month or two while I'm waiting for the tank to cycle. It is of course an expensive method of cycling a tank and its not without its risks (improperly stored Safe Start can lead to the bacteria cultures dying off) but that is the price you pay for convenience. It's certainly a far better method than having to do very large water changes every day for weeks like you have to do in a standard fish in cycle.Overall if you're wanting to do a fish in cycle, I fully recommend Safe Start, it has worked perfectly for me every time!

According to my water tests it has worked
After seeing the positive reviews on here and researching on the internet I decided to give it a try. The bottle has a best before of 07/14 so felt confident using it (I wouldn't of ran the risk if the bottle was older than a couple of months). Here's a breakdown of my start up of a 40 gallon tank:1) The tank had been running for 4 days before to clear the water (I used a sand substrate so the water needed to clear)2) Conditioned the water the day before to remove any bad chemicals in the tap water.3) Shook the Tetra safe start bottle.4) Emptied half the bottle into my Bio media (Ceramic noodles) and half in the water.5) Went to the LFS and purchased 6 Cory catfish (these were the hardiest fish on our wanted list)6) Went through the normal process of letting the bag sit on the top of the tank for 20 minutes, then adding some of my water to the bag then waiting another 20 minutes.7) I'm on day 5 now and every water test has been perfect.8) It says wait 2 weeks before a partial water change but I maybe brave and do it after 1 week.9) The Cory catfish are looking good and will be relaxing in my new 40 gallon for the next 2 weeks or so before some new friends arrive.

Zero effect - low quality batch?
I bought this product to cycle a new tank, and had very little luck with it.I bought it after reading some comments that they had their ammonia and nitrite levels at 0 after a few days, well, in my tank I patienty waited to 2 weeks now and Ammonia is at the same level (3) and there's been no nitrite readings ever (it's on 0) and no nitrates so there's been no bacteria action at all, it seems. After adding it there are lots of cloudness (normal) and lots of seemingly dead debris floating in the tank (not normal). My only guess is I've had a bad batch (I'll be sending my bottle back to Amazon) with dead bacteria inside. Will try other products instead as this was, unfortunately, a disappointment and a waste of time.

Great price, does what it says on the bottle
This product is great if like me you need to swap fish from one tank to a brand new tank with an unestablished filter, all at one time, just add to the recommended strength for the number of litres in your new tank, and add half of the water from your old tank, top up with fresh water and add the fish, they will thrive, and most importantly will survive, no new tank syndrome with this product.

This a product i use regularly and it seems to do the trick so far as removing the stress that fish can get when they are disturbed. All fish chemicals seem to cost the earth but i find the larger sizes seem to work out cheaper overall.Ordered and received within 4 days.

Surprisingly effective!
Having just started up 2 tropical aquariums I was on the search for a product that made a difference to the inevitable spikes of ammonia and nitrite on a newly set up tank.I had spent around £30 on different products trying to make sure things went as smoothly as possible to no avail. After purchasing Tetra Safe Start within 1 day, ammonia and nitrite levels were at 0 ppm and have stayed there since I used the product over a week ago.I have 3 fish in one tank and 4 in another. Everything is going very well so far, after having a few deaths previous to using Safe Start. Would very highly recommend.
