This ruler is well formed, with smooth, flat edges, and a good surface finish. As far as the graduated marking go: they have a slight variance in several of the scales. The inconsistency in the markings is inconsistent, meaning that some of the markings are spot on, and others are slightly off. for example, on the 1/2 scale, the tiny one foot scale broken into inches is about a 1/32 or 1/64 shorter than a 1/2 inch, but the rest of the 1/2 scale markings equal exactly 1/2 inch. I didn't notice right away, but after using the ruler for a while using measurement that were too short, the discrepancies built up, and I was about an 1/8 inch off on a 26 foot wall in a scale drawing. So you wouldn't be able to do super accurate scale drawing with this ruler, but you can get close. I'm not a pro, so this works for my purposes. If you need more accuracy, you'll probably need a laser engraved ruler, or at least one with a guarantee for more precise markings.

At first I was skeptical of the heavier weight of the aluminum vs. the old one I had in plastic, but it turns out to be much better and more stable.

Have used these before but this is a much better ruler as the color coding allows me to stay on a scale without hunting for it. Also metal and not plastic.

I re-designed my flower beds and really wanted to draw everything to scale to make sure things would fit as expected-this ruler definitely helped me solidify the the plan from my minds eye to reality!
