Years ago I used the cheap satellite finders that just beep but you cannot be sure you are on the right satellite and definitely not the right transponder.This Satlink is really well built and incredibly intuitive.It's essentially a free to air DVB-S / S2 and DVB-T / T2 set top box with built in TV and battery with multiple other tools also.There is a signal meter and also an audible alert for signal strength.I have used it for a multi LNB dish; 28 East KU and 9 East KA and I have also used it to confirm the direction of UHF antennas for DVB-T / T2. It's fantastic.

Note that this device, as received, does not contain any data for the Astra 28.2E cluster so if you want to use this to set up your Sky or Freesat dish then you will need to manually add the Satellite and transponder data. This took a little bit of trial and error but worked ok in the end.In use the menus are fairly easy to navigate and the screen is bright enough for outdoors use if not in direct sun. It includes a built-in LED work light which would be useful if you have to work at night, or in an unlit space (e.g. Freeview antenna in a loft space).The signal strength and quality meters update fast enough to make dish/antenna alignment very easy, and the decoded video is surprisingly good quality, easily good enough to see TV station logos etc.

I had been looking at purchasing a device of this kind for many years. I eventually purchased this one, after months of checking reviews etc. I particularly selected this model, due to the support for both satellite and terrestrial services. A complete game changer for anyone who has wrestled with a basic signal meter, whilst balancing on a ladder. Very easy to use, rugged enough for regular professional use. Highly recommend.
