Dometic WH-10GEA 10-Gallon Water Heater, Gas/Electric

This water heater was ordered to replace a Dometic WH-10GEA water heater in an Entegra Vision 36C XL motor home. Jayco, the parent company of Entegra, built our coach and installed the water heater without supporting the water tank. The water heater was only attached to the coach exterior wall. The tank was over two inches above the floor of the water heater box. The tank when full weighs over 100 pounds. Bouncing down the road, the weight of the water tank ripped the metal face off the exterior wall and tore the sheet metal control board. This caused an extreme hazard because of the possibility of a ruptured propane line, electrical failure in both AC and DC systems, potential of water heater exhaust entering the coach; and, ruptured water lines. The potential for a fire or explosion was very high.This was NOT the fault of the water heater built by Dometic. The fault lies squarely with Jayco because they failed to follow the installation instructions provided by Dometic.The new water heater requires some skill to install along with some special tools. Probably not a good job for a handyman. As a contractor, I have had considerable experience installing water heaters. The new heater required construction of a “Saddle Mount” with hold down straps along with modifications to reinforce the water heater box.I recommend reading the Dometic Installation Instructions for water heaters. Also, if you already have one of these water heaters, please inspect your water heater for compliance with the Dometic instructions. There are many pages of recall complaints about Jayco improperly installing water heaters.The Dometic water heater works very well when properly installed. One attached photo is the damaged water heater on my work bench. The other photo is the water heater before removal. Note that the heater is pushed inward over two inches; and, the metal angle attaching the control board to to the exterior wall is ripped off.

The water heater arrived within the specified time, in perfect condition.The install was easy, with clear instructions.I had to route an additional 12 volt line to the unit, as it was needed to power the unit for both AC and gas function.We are back in business. BTW, this unit replaced a 10 gallon Atwood water heater that was 23 years old.

It arrived on time and in decent shape a little bent but that's because the manufacturer is incompetent in their packaging. It works exactly as it should. Our RV came with one of these and that one lasted 25 years 😲 So instead of risking a dud from some other manufacturer and a hole resize which is difficult in an aluminum frame fiberglass RV we went with this and is fit almost exactly the same with the exception of the rear plumbing hook ups which are now parallel to one another just above cent of the middle of the tank. When hooked up it heated a full tank and a comfortable shower within an hour. If you're replacing an older unit your current door may not fit, mine didn't and now I'll replace the old door also but it's not a big deal. You can't beat an Atwood product, and we have had several (now dometic). Those Atwood brothers knew what to do, hopefully more of those guys like that are around for a long time. 👍🏼

It was working then one-week later it stopped burns to hot. I have replaced the thermo lockout switch twice. Cant close door it gets to hot and melts the wires and lock switch.

Great! Basically a drop in replacement for atwood 10gal.

Was easy to install, fit right in opening, No problem. Wiring all the same so hooked up well. And its nicely preset for temp.

This was a perfect fit for my 2020 Jayco 40ft trailer. This heats the water so much faster than the factory installed one that went out after a few years.
