Really works!
Hello, let me start by saying, that for the money this is a handy little tool. We carry this and our service kit to check electrical panels for automation from high heat relays. We have a machine well over $2,000 that we can carry but this little device will fit in your shirt pocket it's not as accurate but it definitely shows you the hot spots.

Brings out the warmth of my surroundings
The TOPDON TC001 infrared thermal imaging camera comes in a nylon carrying case that includes a 19.7 inch cable extending the length with a USB converter as well as a quick user guide. The device plugs into the USB C connector on a android smart phone (I have a Pixel 7 Pro). If your cellphone is in a protective case, the device won't completely plug in, and the software that needs to be previously downloaded to your cellphone, warns you that the device isn't plugged in. I used the included extension connector and the software was able to recognize my TC001. The literature states that the TC001 has an ultra-high IR resolution of 256x192 and delivers crisp thermal images of the target with unmatched clarity. My smartphone displays the image collected and processed by the TC001, which consumes a mere 0.35W. I'm expecting to be able to use it for more than 4 hours although I have many other apps running on my smartphone. The TC001 model isn't compatible with iPhone 15 but can be used with many different Android devices. Its range is stated at -4℉ to 1022℉ (-20℃ to 550℃) and should be able to perform temperature readings accurate within 3.6℉ (2℃) or 2% of the object’s actual temperature, and measure the temperature to 0.1℃ accuracy. The TC001 can take continuous measurements of a scene and generate a waveform graph with the high, low, and average temperatures of objects. The user can manually select 3 dimensions to check temperature in the TC001 App: Point, Line (Highest and Lowest) and Surface (Highest and Lowest) detection. With up to 3 areas for each dimension, the TC can read temperatures in 9 areas simultaneously. 9 color palettes allow users to read the temperature differences in a scene with the gradient colors of their choice.TOPDON’s image enhancement technology makes the field of view clearer and more detailed by adjusting image sharpness and contrast. Image rotation function allows users to view the temperature in different angles without rotating your phones. With the image fusion function, the infrared imager can combine the IR image and visible image taken by a mobile camera. It measures 2.8x1.65x0.55 inches and weighs one ounce and is portable, easily pairing with android phones that support OTG functions, allowing you to monitor temperature whenever and wherever. A 19.7 inch cable offers extended length with a USB converter to bring more flexibility to temperature reading. Anti-dust EVA bag and wiping cloth provide protection and cleaning.

Great affordable, beginner thermal imaging device.
This thermal camera is a very affordable way to be able to do some basic trouble-shooting, investigating, or just having fun. I originally purchased it in order to look for insulation problems in my ceiling. I had a hard time with that, as everything was more or less the same temperature so the camera didn't really find anything.Where it functions really well though is when looking at objects where there is a huge temperature difference. I looked at my computer, car's engine bay, A/C condenser, among other things. In trained hands, it can even be used to debug things like failed electronics, by being able to quickly pinpoint components that are getting hot due to short circuits, for example. The camera comes in a very nice plush case, and includes a USB-C extension cable for use with phone cases. I have a silicone skin on my Galaxy S22, and have to remove it if I want to use the camera without the extension cable.

Always wanted a thermal camera and this delivers!
I debated for over a week on which thermal camera to buy. I settled on this one and I'm very happy with my choice. I ended up going with it because it's powered off of my phone rather than needing to be charged separately like some competitors, and the resolution was better at a similar price point.I attached a few photos that demonstrate what it's capable of. In one, you can see the heated seats in my truck - it has enough thermal resolution to see the elements themselves under the leather. In another, you can see the uninsulated cover to access my attic and how it's clearly much colder than the rest of the ceiling. In the third, you can see that the tall older wood windows in my house are much less efficient than the smaller newer vinyl replacements. In the final image, I've shown one of the different color scale options that I think is very helpful to find hot spots.I like that it points out the highest and lowest temperature in an image as well as the center. Those numbers aren't necessarily completely accurate, but they're close - for example, in the photo of the front of the house it was about 0 outside, so the windows showing -11 are probably reading a bit low. I'm not super concerned with that given I'm really just looking for trends. The Top Infrared app is easy enough to use and allows taking both video and photos. If you have a phone case, a small USB-C extension adapter is helpful rather than relying on a cable or removing the case. It will not connect with a case because the plug can't insert fully. One competitor thought of this and designed an extendable USB-C connection to deal with it - it would be nice if Topdon had done the same, but an adapter works okay for me.I've found some places where I have work to do with improving insulation around the house, and frankly it's just a lot of fun to play with. I absolutely recommend this thermal camera.

Great results at an affordable price!
I'm a little surprised at how well this worked! I never thought I could get into thermal imaging at such a low price. I'm not a professional, mind you, but it is great to visualize where the hot and cold spots are in my RV so I can figure out how to address them. I'm very happy with it.
