Seems to obviously be the best pressure cooker?
My Crockpot/Slow Cooker broke so I thought I would try a pressure cooker instead of replacing it with another slow cooker.I had no pressure cooker experience but I did research and watched a bunch of videos. At 7.5 quarts it is one of the largest pressure cookers I could find. I found several 8qt cookers, but they were all taller and deeper. After looking at all options, the Rio Wide format with the wider shallower pot seemed to be obviously the best pressure cooker. I was confused as to why anyone would even make a taller narrower pot. But what do I know, I have no pressure cooker experience. So I bought the Rio Wide. Now that I've had it for a couple of months and used about 10 times, I can say pressure cooking is the real deal. You can fully cook frozen chicken breasts in 12 minutes. You can fully cook dried beans and peas in 10-30 minutes with no soaking. And after using the Rio Wide, I can say that I cant imagine why anyone would choose a taller narrower pot over the Rio Wide pot. Features-wise, the Rio Wide works well, has a good user interface, and has what appears to be safer steam release than any other mechanism I've seen.

Very pleased.
I like the size and versatility. Much more portable than my previous IP. I do wish, however, that they made a comparable tempered glass lid for it.

Fabulous!
The pot is lower and wider, but the cooking abilities are the same as my very large Instant pot that I dropped and broke the lid, therefore the replacement. I love the new shape! I use my Instant Pot every week. It is a major cooking tool for me. I especially like that this pot mimics my old one in every way, in particular the dial which is the best for finding the method of cooking, the time and the temperature. I know there are many instant pots to choose from, but this one suits my needs best. I highly recommend it. And while I am single, it would be perfect for a family. And if you have never used a pressure cooker, this pot is absolutely user friendly!

Lack of accessories, and customer consideration
If you intend to use your pressure cooker often, I would not recommend this instant pot. The wide rio plus comes with no way to purchase additional accessories or additional sealing rings. The company did not consider the needs of their customers. Even when contacted directly, they lie and tell you that the rings will be available in a couple of months. This is not true. How can a company sell a product without ensuring that accessories are available? Wait to purchase this product until you can buy accessories. If they don't offer accessories soon, buy another brand!! I have this product. The product worked fine. But without the ability to purchase additional sealing rings, I can only use it sparingly and am wondering if I made the wrong decision making this purchase. Instant pot has additional accessories for all their pressure cooking products, but none for their newest and best. This was not well thought out.update: this thing is performing terribly. it won't come to pressure. I have changed gaskets, but water still leaks everywhere. it will not steam at all. the overflow cup fills with water, and no matter how much water you put in it, two cups minimum, it burns out and all the water evaporates. This is an extreme disappointment and illustrates what happens when a company that cared about quality gets purchased by a company that only cares about share holder equity.Update: contacted customer service and they wanted me to prove to them that the machine is not working. Sent them pictures and a video that shows the machine leaking. Quess what, no response whatsoever. I truly did not expect this from instant pot. I am very disappointed and will contact the better business bureau. Beware of this machine. It had great potential, but execution was extremely flawed, and customer service is sorely lacking and is dismissive.

Great For Bigger Items
Have really enjoyed using my new Instant Pot.I have been using it with silicone baking dishes to make multiple portions for breakfast and lunch.I have made multiple roasts now that can ben pulled apart by plastic spoons.Pros:Wide is much easier to get larger items in.Can put in silicone molds for easier clean up and making different variations of a meal (1 breakfast with sausage and 1 with bacon for example). Many options for how you want to cook and easy to set.Cons:Takes much longer to get to cooking pressure; even with pre-heating.Larger footprint.I would definitely recommend this for anyone interested in cooking with an instant pot.

Wide, shallow cooking surface is a huge improvement
I've been an Instant Pot user since 2016 and regularly use my 3-, 6,- and 8-quart models (sometimes at the same time!) to cook meals for my family. When I saw the RIO with its wide, shallow base, I knew I didn't need it, but I also knew it would be super convenient. I received it as a Christmas gift and have been test driving it over the last month. Compared to the regular 8-quart model, it is so much easier to brown large batches of meat for things like chili. This pot has also become my go-to for making hard-boiled eggs, as I can fit in 24+ eggs with minimal stacking. For our family of six, this IP has been a great addition, and I find it to be more versatile than the regular 8-quart pot. The controls are a little different than the DUO models thanks to the digital screen, but I found it to be pretty easy to figure out based on using previous IPs. The cord does seem to be a bit short, so I need to clear a space closer to the outlet when I use it. One of my favorite features is the progress bar that shows when the IP is preheating and cooking. It's always been a mystery to me what's happening when the timer's not counting down, so I like this addition on this model. I can't speak yet to the longevity of the RIO compared to the DUO, but hopefully it will hold up as well as those over time!
