Is of good quality, not like some of the "sun" hats I have bought
Nice hat but would like the rubber pull ups on the strings rather than tie up. I enjoy wearingthe Tilley and the little money pocket is a novel idea.

Beautiful hat at a great price
Very comfortable. Excellent protection, looks high quality. Wrinkles a little which is annoying but can be removed to some degree by wetting the hat and drying. This hat looks like much higher quality than comparables. Make sure you know how to fit it by having the hat slightly grasp your head, not grip it. one issue that is a challenge is that the shape is perhaps a bit narrow in width so it will grasp many heads more tightly there leaving space in the back. You may want to get a hat that is slightly larger than expected and borderline measurements should go with the larger hat.Drawstring and secret pocket on the inside lining. This brim is not supre wide but wide enough with a nice long back to protect your neck. Looks very stylish too.

It actually fit!!
Most things I buy are too small. After much research, I ordered this in a size 8. To my amazement it actually fit!!

Quality Hat, Perfect for Outdoors
I volunteer at a nature reserve, and this hat is perfect for spending a lengthy amount of time outdoors. It’s lightweight, has ventilation, and offers great protection with a nice size brim. Tilly is a reputable brand for quality outdoor hats.

Tips for sizing and staying cooler
I have accumulated several Tilley airflow hats, LTM5 and LTM6's. They are great hats but deciding on a size can be tricky. Tilley says the hat is designed for a loose fit. They lead you to believe that loose sizing is already figured into their sizing chart. That has not been my experience. The Tilley chart says my 22.75" head should be a 7 1/4, as many other hat charts do. A 7 1/4 Tilley hat fits me like any other 7 1/4 hat which fits with a definite friction fit. Not what they recommend. I returned the 7 1/4 hat and got a 7 3/8. That was a more loose fit. I could turn my head down and it would take a few good shakes for it to fall off my head. I got a couple more. I've had them for a few years. I mostly wear them to keep rain and bugs off my head and I try to stick to the shade. Lately though, I've been been in the sun more and I'm thinking these Tilley hats are pretty hot on my head and not as breathable as they claim. A good price popped up and I decided to try a 7 1/2. This size fits more like what Tilley describes. It also now lets a air flow under the brim and feels much more comfortable in the heat. It still looks good on my head and does not feel sloppy or look too big for me. I turn my head down and it will fall off in one or two shakes. So I'm happy, it was a game changer for me to go two sizes above the chart. Depending on your hate for heat and humidity, go one or two sizes above the chart. If you are not a walking lawn sprinkler like me, one size up might be enough. You could always tighten the back half of of the strap for a tighter fit but these hats don't stretch at all if you need a looser fit.I did some temperature measurements on a picnic table in the sun. I compared Olive and Khaki. Even though Olive is my favorite color, Khaki was the clear winner for staying cooler. Like 20 degrees cooler under the crown in the noonday sun.No noticeable decline in quality now that these hats are made in China. If you want a more airy hat for mainly shade, the Sunday Afternoons Cruiser is a very lightweight hat to look at. I like it for evening or shade for bug protection. It is cooler and more breathable than the Tilley Airflo's. But for direct sun, the heavier material of the Tilley's gives more protection from the sun beating down on you.

Solid hat that lives up to the manufacturer headings
First, the vendor. I’ve seen these complaints elsewhere. The packaging came such that the brim had folds. Annoying, but the hat recovered on its own. Plus, the vendor sent Khaki and I clearly ordered Olive. I did not send it back because I needed it and I had an event that was too soon for return turnaround. Khaki looks good too. Perhaps this was even a blessing. Not sure.Test one. I am a crew (rowing) coach. There were two full sunny weekends in Sarasota Florida that I needed this hat for. The wind clearly tested both the fit and the strap. The fit, I would have ordered an eighth smaller. It’s good, but I think it could be better. When I take the strap out of the flap inside the hat, I wish it were tighter. At the events, I once again failed to put sunscreen on my face at these two events. The hat did it’s job admirably. Not even a hint of sun issues.Plus, my kids all started calling me Indiana Jones. This is when I noticed that halfway thru the first weekend, the shipping folds in the brim disappeared.Test one verdict is a solid success. This is my new coaching hat. I started using it on the water in the coaches launch too.Test two was golf. I have been using baseball hats forever for golf, and they don't protect my ears. I’ve always been annoyed by other hats because they get in the way of my swing and they get hot. Not this one. The strap doesn’t even annoy me on windy days, which has been a huge problem with other hats like this. Plus, my friends all liked the look. And when their wives also like it, winner.Test three: Yosemite National Park. This trip is why I investigated this hat to begin with. My trip was in late May 2021 and we expected sun and mild wind. Requirements matching my crew coach needs: sun and wind. Sometimes life gets in the way. This is not even close to what happened. The week before we arrived, the lows were 40+ and highs were near 70. We showed up, low 25 to high of 50 depending on where in the park we were. Zero sun until the last day. Fog. Rain. Snow. Sleet. Harder snow. More snow. On my hikes, even with AllTrails we couldn’t find some of the paths because of the fresh snow. On one hike we got above the clouds and briefly found sun. Snow and sleet never did make my head wet. Snow collected on the brim and melted off. Never got wet. Wind kicked up, sideways snow, sideways hail. The strap worked like a champ and took seconds to deploy. It did not annoy me. Wind goes away and seconds to hide it again. Others in my group had their heads get soaked. Not me. They were changing hats or hoodies while I kept this. And it still looked good for dinner and kept my head warm on the walk thru town.I will almost certainly treat this hat over time with water repellant. Other than that, solid, solid performance.New to Tilley. Getting one for my wife. Probably a life long customer.
