DEVAISE 2-Drawer Mobile File Cabinet with Lock, Commercial Vertical Cabinet in Black

The file cabinet is ok but honestly, for $355 I expected more. It is easy to "assemble" (which is one of the main reasons I ordered this particular one) but you do have to figure out exactly where the struts to hang the files on should be, especially if you need legal which I did. The instructions are adequate but again, only because there is a minimum to do to make it "ready"... no real instructions... only pictures which you have to check carefully. My only concern is that it is very light and because I was worried about the cabinet tilting when the TOP drawer was opened (the bottom has a 5th wheel and is pretty stable), I put something very heavy on top to stabilize it. I don't want to sound as though it is not a good cabinet, but again, and maybe I've been out of the Home Office furniture market for too long, I thought $355 would be a little more impressive.

This is just a boring file cabinet and wasn't expecting anything more than a typical box. But, this boring box is well worth the cost. I normally never comment on shipment or packaging. This was the best packaged item that I have received in years. All corners are protected with hard flexible plastic bumpers. The sides are protected as well. It will be challenging for the worst trucking company to damage this during transit. The size is ideal to fit under my work surface, which is the ideal placement. This is a lightweight metal cabinet which is what I wanted and exactly what you get. If you want a heavy weight bulky cabinet look elsewhere and don't complain. The drawers pull all the way out so it's very easy to access files at the very back. I've never had a cabinet that was so easy to access. The bottom drawer does have an additional small wheel in the middle of the front drawer to aid in pulling it the drawer and providing stability. Very nice feature. Be aware that, with ANY two drawer file cabinet, if you only pull out the top drawer all the way that the cabinet will tip forward. If you place the cabinet under a work surface or place weights in the base this would reduce chance of tipping. I fully load the top drawer and know to hold the door if cabinet is out in the open. Not an issue, just be aware and use wisely. The lock secures both drawers - nice feature. What I also like about this drawer size is that it now functions as a portable "bug-out" box. It's small enough and rolls so it'll be easy to carry all important papers in one box if we every need to leave due to an emergency situation. Since we now have this cabinet we'll probably never have such an emergency. Lastly, this file cabinet has a very clean modern look with no visible handles or knobs. The drawers have continuous edge grip on both sides which makes it very easy to open in any position? No regrets.

The white File Cabinet came well packed and had no dents or flaws when I opened the box. Very well packaged. The two drawers open easily and slide out all the way to allow you to get to the back of the drawer. The metal isn't as heavy as a commercial File Cabinet but good enough for home use. The support bars that allow you to use Letter sized file folders and also Legal size also were included in the box. The only thing is they have to be hung sideways. Since I wanted them face forward I decided to order A-4 file folder hangers and am able to actually hang the folders on the frame of the drawers they fit perfectly so I did not use the hang bars included. I would say for the price it's a decent File Cabinet. The measurements that were shown in the diagram were different from the actual size of the cabinet in height . Go by the printed specs to get the accurate dimensions. The top of the cabinet is also flat so files take out of the drawers can be placed there when searching for a special file.

DAMAGED. I don't recommend this filing cabinet because while it came in a well-packaged box it arrived with the top drawer locked but the left side of the top drawer was close to 2 inches pulled out from the cabinet unit itself making it difficult to unlock. Once we were able to get the top drawer lock working properly the whole unit just seemed cheap, unlike typical smoothly operational filing cabinets. It was very easy to see that when you lock the top drawer you could easily pry or bend the top drawer from the left side if you really wanted to get inside the unit. No thanks.

I purchased this item because I wanted a fully assembled (or mostly assembled) file cabinet. It arrived in excellent condition as expected and was well packaged. I just had to put the casters on. Things to know about the cabinet: it is extremely heavy and it is a bit ‘tippy’. I have found I keep very little in the top drawer because of this. It is easy to roll this on a floor or flat carpet - so that is the plus. It has sharp corners one could easily injure yourself on. It is a decent quality unit for the money. I regret my decision to purchase this item - and Would like to get rid of it.
