Such a basic design, but amazing results! AC Infinity comes through again.
I admit I was very skeptical about these bases when looking into them, and it took me a bit to finally try these out. I bought the 4 pack, and oh man, the results were shocking. I'm growing 7 plants in a grow tent using super soil, 4 with these auto-water bases, and 3 without. It's not even close, the ones with the auto water bases are doing so much better than the 3 I am watering manually. The leaves are so much bigger, and the plants are lush, and robust compared to the control 3. They are doing so much better in fact, that I bought another 4 pack of these to bolster the 3 control plants. My plants are so much happier with these, and the convenience is just a bonus. My tent, and it's systems are AC infinity as well, with humidity, and climate controlled by program. With these bases, I don't really need to do much except check in on them to see that they are doing well, and to water them when the bases are low. So much easier having everything automated. Takes all the work out of a grow. Highly recommend AC-Infinity products for their durability, reliability, and quality. They also stand by their products, any problems I've had with defects, or damaged items have always been met with a responsive team at AC Infinity to satisfy any issues I've had.

Works as advertised but not as hands free as you'd think.
Although they work as advertised and are of quality build without being heavy, I decided a drip system is easier. Few things to keep in mind, your nutrients need to be completely water soluble. It's recommended to remove the fabric pots between each water to keep roots from being bound. Your soil should hold more water content, coco noir based or of the like. It needs to be able to wick the water, some soils are better for it than others. Not many tie down grommets, and if you are training heavy the pot my collapse in on itself -- make sure you fill it pretty full to negate this. One last thing to note, the water level gauge can get stuck to the side, causing inaccurate readings. You may think you still have water left and its dry. If look and branding is important to you, definitely pick these up. I love everything I have by AC Infinity... Otherwise you can create your own drain pan using tupperware and a grate or something of the sort. Given those factors, I decided a gravity fed drip system was a better fit for me. I just find it easier to use 5 gal pots and maintain a single reservoir. Cleaning as needed.

Great system for coco.
It works really well, in fact I had such a good environment going my C02 would climb over night into the 2000 plus range. And no it wasn't a leak, I removed the tank at one point to prove it. Coco with some worm casings, Earthshine, and some vermiculite, tribus for microbes. The only improvement I can think of is making it a bit more low profile with some casters built in. Maybe a larger reservoir, during max growth some cuts will deplete these in just over 24 hours.

Just try them.
These are very effective. I used them with Athena pro outside last summer. I was filling every 3-4 days. The plants drank like crazy!

Works well to add stability to a grow
Like other reviewers I was skeptical of the effectiveness of this system. However, after having used them for over a month now, I can say they definitely work really well, and I will continue using these bases as part of my set up in the future. These bases don’t completely replace the need for hand watering, but they do help ensure a certain level of moisture stability throughout the grow so you won’t end up with dry droopy plants if you forget to water for a few days. I’m growing in 5 gallon fabric pots filled with miracle grow potting soil and these bases have kept the bottom 3 to 4 inches of the pots moist consistently. The bases went fully filled have been lasting around 4-5 days before needing to be refilled with fresh water. The plants seem to love it, but still show signs of needing a some water when the top layer becomes too dried out.. I find that top watering with nutrients every 4 to 5 days has been enough to keep the top layer moist and I haven’t had to hand water yet with additional freshwater following this approach. The water level meters are nice, but they do get stuck sometimes so when you check your plants you need to tap the meter with your finger to make sure they’re showing the right reading. Not a perfect system, but it’s still better than eyeballing it. To me the main design flaw is that the water filling port and the water level meter are on completely opposite sides of the base. This makes it difficult to see the water meter when you keep the filling port facing the front of the tent where it can be accessed. Instead, I put the water meters facing front. and when it comes time to fill the bases, I just remove the water meter and pour in that hole and I don’t use the filling port at all. This is the only reason I omitted one star from my review. Bottom line is that the bases work well as a fail-safe addition to my growing set up, but they don’t eliminate the need to water altogether. I will continue to use them because it reduces the frequency of watering that’s usually necessary, which makes the growing process a little bit more relaxed, and forgiving. Even for an experienced grower this is a great low-tech, low overhead solution

Nifty and convenient, worth if you have the funds.
These are really nifty. They’re worth it if you have the money. Really easy to put together, and they seem built well. The size is nice too because it seems like it can accommodate many different sizes.

Love them!
I absolutely love these and have ordered them 3 times so far! They are well made and sturdy, and I love the water level indicator so I know when to add more. I use them slightly differently from how they are shown. I use regular pots rather than fabric, and I run the wick from the pot into the base. I use these for my huge plants that are prone to root rot such as my monsteras and fiddle leaf figs. My plants are loving them. The plants only take as much water as they need, so it completely takes the guess work out of watering. I only wish they made these in a smaller size for smaller plants.

This basically combines all the advantages of growing in soil with most of the advantages of growing hydroponically without any of the disadvantages. Create the right biome in your soil and you don’t need to monitor your nutrient solution ever again. It also creates a couple of new advantages in the process; for example, you can monitor how much the plants drink because they won’t drink more than they need, which I’ve found was the most accurate way to determine when they’re ready for harvest (they very obviously reduce their intake when they’re ready). I can’t remember the last time I saw a fungus gnat either. I have eight of these and they’re amazing; this is honestly the best thing I’ve done to my little garden. I’ve compared the way I use these to soil, coco, and hydro. This is the second-cheapest, easiest, lowest-maintenance, most reliable, and highest-yielding of the four strategies. The only (minor) issue is that the float that indicates level often gets stuck in the up position, which can be fixed by adding a bit of weight to it.
