Stefan Soell is a god
It was a few years ago when I first became interested in photography, and have since eagerly browsed through thousands of collections by hundreds of photographers. It didn't take long though before I realized I had a strong preference for two genres: landscape/nature photography and nude female photography. It's not exactly an original preference, after all these have been the two most popular art subjects for millennia. And for good reason, as they are easily the two most beautiful things mankind has ever encountered, and when I say mankind I'm referring to people with penises. That said, no photographer I have yet encountered can bring these two beautiful things together as expertly as Stefan Soell, whose eye for great locations, natural lighting and mise en scène allows the whole to be far more than sum of its parts. When I first came across "Alpengluhn", I was blown away, not just by the beauty of the Femjoy models or the locations, but by how Soell can make his photographs tell a story, create a mood, and be innocent, tasteful and very erotic all at the same time.Never did I think it could possibly be topped, but "Waldlust" is twice the collection "Alpengluhn" was. It's roughly the same size as "Alpengluhn"(unlike the disappointingly diminutive "Volcanic Girls") but it is both more thoughtfully put together and shows that Soell has become a bit more sophisticated in his style. The locations have a mysterious quality that the previous collections lack, and the roster of gorgeous women has increased. Furthermore, there are fewer pages with multiple shrunk down photos (seriously, why does anyone do this?) and instead there are more panorama spreads where every detail can be scrutinized without a magnifying glass. And to all the red-blooded men out there (or other lovers of the nude female form) this collection features more of a focus on the posterior than "Alpengluhn" or "Volcanic Girls," and being a huge fan of the female buttocks I can't complain. Check out the two page spread of Ariel and Katie (I think it's Katie anyway) walking on the railroad tracks. By far my favorite photograph, both for aesthetic appreciation and *ahem* other reasons. So if you love nature and naked women (and who doesn't?) pick this up. It's a good size and filled with scores of glossy, high-quality photos.

Stoell back in form
This was actually the first Stefan Soell book I bought. Beautifully composed photos of lovely European women in incredible locales. I can appreciate Stoell's model selection that range from supermodel looks to the girl next door. Everything comes together right in this books with composition, lighting, scenery, ladies, outfits and makeup. Not sure if all the ladies are naturally endowed, but no obvious surgery scars or refund gaps in the bunch. After picking this book up, I bought Stefan's other works, Alpengluhn, Modern Urban Girls and Volcanic Girls. Waldlust is a continuation of the wonderful work done in Alpengluhn. While I recommend picking up all of Stoell's book, I would suggest starting here with Waldlust and then Apengluhn.

This book is really just part two of Alpengluhn
What can be said about this Stefan Soell book which features crisp clear pictures of natural beauty and youth. Well it is not classic because they are mostly bare down there, and there is none of the Vaseline on the lens type of shots typical of David Hamilton and generally a more modern and direct treatment of the subject. When looking at images like this you get the feeling the subjects are making the statement; "so what, I'm naked". It is almost as if they could be more sexy with more clothes on and be less offensive to those with sensibilities about full frontal nudity. Sexy is not what the artist seems to be going for, this is more in your face nudity and "look at me" attitude. Most models look into the camera and that is not for everyone. It is nice to see so many beautiful young ladies enjoy showing the world what they have been gifted with, and do it with a smile, and the quality of the paper and the large format 24cm by 30cm bigger than A4 are all above standard. All bar one European Caucasian white skin set against deep forest greens and blue skies. Alpengluhn by the same author is just the same thing again but slightly more explicit.

Excellent work, but could be better
I have mixed feelings about Soell's work. He has exceptional models and unbelievable locations, but his work could be better. His use of light varies very little. There are a some good shots where he goes beyond a beautiful model posing in a beautiful landscape. He just needs to do more of that.

Excellent Quality
When it comes to nude/erotic photography books, I'm always a little worried that the photo on the cover will be the only one I actually like. Happily that is not at all the case with this book: the cover photo is very representative of the style and quality of the rest. The locations were beautiful, and I thought all of the models were at least moderately attractive, with many of them being jaw-droppingly stunning. Highly recommended.

Very nice production values.
The photos are top notch the models are lovely and the locations make the photos very interesting. It is a quality publication. The Nature settings a lot of the photos are in give a wholesome innocent quality to many of the images and the models in them even with the nude poses the models are in. Overall a very good publication.

Pleasing to the eye
Stefan Soell has created a beautiful visual banquet of the female form. The models are all exceptional, the lighting perfect, the settings well done. After this experience I would not hesitate to purchase from this photographer again.
