Great buy...brought for myself & my 6 year old to listen to in the car. Very clear & have picked up a lot. Would definitely recommend...I've already brought the Arabic version & great also so would recommend any from the series.

The Pimsleur French programme is good at getting you speaking the language from the very first lesson. It uses various techniques to teach you the chosen language, and starts off by giving you some words and then getting you to think out and use them in a sentence.

brilliant product, for someone who wishes to engage in simple conversational french. An improvement on other methods I've tried over the years, I'm encouraged to progress a little further, convinced that I will not be wasting precious money on something that will be abandoned after a short struggle with this great language.

Like... Can't deny that continued repetition of the same words and phrases help to 'stick'. Also, attention to detail on pronunciation on connected words. Dislike... Main thing is after 5 CDs/ 10 lessons, you have covered/ learned so very little. Second, the Very very long recital of legal liabilies and other boiler plate on the first disc is painfully long, Really

Tries many basic French courses over the years. This seems best yet. Time will tell. Off to France next week.

A good start to learning French if there is the commitment to practice

I have tried learning foreign language in the Past. I am always scared as I take time to get the understanding of a foreign language. With this CD, I learn at my own pace and comfort. I am able to get the understanding of foreign language without the grammer rules. I learnt few words and sentences just within 30 minutes of listening this CD. I did repeat the CD for better understanding and correct pronunciation. I love this CD. This is a great tool for everyone who are new to a Foreign language and fear of Grammar rules in the beginning. This CD will make you listen, understand and speak French at an Ease.

I don't really agree with a lot of the other reviews on here! I guess it's important to understand what the product is and what you're getting yourself into when you buy it. Pimsleur is an all-audio language learning program based upon listening, speaking, and repeating. I guess it all depends on how you learn best and how you like to learn. I personally am an aural (hearing) learner. I also think listening is key to learning and developing a new language. I have actually studied French off and on or years and I decided to purchase this course as a refresher. My vocabulary is decent right now, and I guess you could say I am intermediate in French, but I really wanted to improve my accent. I feel that this product really helped me do that. You will really learn to talk in an clear, educated, understandable way - just like the product advertises. This product was awesome and I'm looking forward to purchasing French Comprehensive I from Pimsleur.

Works great. Been learning for 6 months now with there conversational French 1 and I can have conversations with my Dad who is fluent. Only thing to point out is when they say "du vent" to describe wine. du vent means some wind, and "du vin" means some wine. Thought it was hilarious when they said, would you like to drink some wind with me ;) -Kaitee

Great starter for a new French student but if you plan to continue beyond the basics buy the French 1 Version with 30 lessons! Very good for help with pronunciation, great repitition to reinforce what you've learned and a logical progression of learning. I would definately recommend the Pimsler materials to anyone trying to learn a new language! Trying german with my younger daughter next! A companion workbook would be the only way to improve on a nearly perfect product. As a visual learner I like to see what I am hearing. However I am able to converse in French and I can change sentences to fit a situation. This program makes it easy to build on the vocabulary you learn from the CD's.

I am still getting use to Pimsleur’s learning procedure. No book or writing just practice with cd’s. May repeatly play & suggested once 80% learned or comfortable move to next cd. I am sure this is great for many but I am old school remember better when can picture the words in my head. Overall I do enjoy the cd’s & would recommend they are worth the price. I also have the Spanish collection.
