Junior English Book 2 : Hammond, Andrew: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Well written! - We are still working through book 1, but I bought the 2nd book just in case, it was not available when we finished. It's a well laid out book with a nice reading list suggestions. Lots of extra suggestions, for activities beyond the exercises. The book is fairly compact and not too daunting for an 8 year old. We like it so far and look forward to starting book 2. Review: Fantastic - I homeschool my 9 year old daughter, and we bought these to help her. I have used other books, but these a by far the best. Each chapter starts with a story, (only a page long) and the questions that follow, are about the story, you have to answer the questions in full, then there are lots of other things in each chapter that work along side the story, wether it be to write a sentence out and highlight the nouns, verbs, adjectives, or fill in missing punctuation. I cannot find a single fault with the range. We started on Book 1, and there are 3 books in the series, and we complete a chapter every week. My daughter has grasped things quite quickly, and we are very happy with her progress. Also there is an answer book that goes alongside it, I would recommend this too!

Great for home learning
What can I say it a English text book. It has lots of great examples which are easy to follow and expand on. Most importantly it contains loads of sample question to embed the knowledge into those young minds.

Bright children find the extra SPAF exercises too easy.
Stimulating texts, with a fiction and non-fiction passage for each unit with exercises in grammar, punctuation and spelling following the same theme in the unit. Bright children find the extra SPAF exercises too easy.

Very good.
We homeschool in GB. And after using American curriculum, a friend recommended these to us. They are very good. Lots of interesting stuff in here.
