Metal is smooth and does not stick when using. Glides very nice. The pen itself also very helpful with tmj. Does need to be cleaned after use to get smudges and oils off.

Chrome plated?
Way too mirror-finished to be stainless. Have used several different gua sha tools and this is by far the smallest, which wouldn't be bad if it weren't so slippery due to the shiny coating. My other tools are stainless and much easier to grip, even though they are larger and heavier. This is OK for smaller areas.
