This book is ridiculously easy to understand
This book is ridiculously easy to understand. Not only does Klein make difficult chemistry concepts simple, he also makes a point of telling you what kinds of answers your teacher will be looking for. He teaches you chemistry while also teaching you how to succeed in a class that uses a standard chemistry grading rubric. If you are unsure about buying this book for any reason, please stop thinking about it and just order it already. The algebraic method for balancing equations in the book's appendix is reason alone. Seriously, it should be a crime for instructors to not teach this to their classes. Balancing equations is much like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube... once you line a few up, you throw everything else out of whack. In my opinion it is totally pointless trying to go about balancing equations in this way. There is no reason on God's green earth that anyone should be without the easy, effective, and fail-proof algebraic tool Klein gives in this book. This book is great for anyone taking General Chemistry for science majors... if you are like me and going back to college and haven't taken Chemistry in a decade (or at all), it is a must.

A Must Have!
First of all, it is true that this book has a lot of mistakes. You know why everyone has noticed so many? Because Klein teaches the reader the concepts so well that the reader can easily spot something wrong and KNOW he or she is correct. It's honestly pretty telling that so many people are able to find these errors.Secondly, and most importantly, this book does an AMAZING job of teaching the basic concepts that are essential for any general chemistry class. I started casually going through this book before I took a summer general chemistry course at my university. It has given me an edge over all of my classmates. My summer class moves fast, but with this book, I'm honestly barely stressing. This book quickly made me an expert at doing stoichiometry which has helped me tremendously in both my lecture and lab course. In conclusion, I was genuinely surprised at just how much this book has helped me. I always thought I was one of those people who just didn't "get" chemistry. That's definitely not the case now. I'm looking forward to using Klein's book on Organic Chemistry for my course next month. I HIGHLY recommend this book to ANYONE taking General Chemistry.

General Chemisty as a second language
This book shows most of the principles you'll find in your Gen CHEM I course and helps to explain their relevancy to the GEN CHEM I course. Stongly suggest outlining this guide in accordance to whatever text book you'll be using in your course so you wont be studying non-relevant items. Overall this book will help you by giving you a second perspective as to what you are studying.Would I buy it again? No, my text book was pretty thorough without it. I gave it to a friend that loves it.
