Love it! Bought a second one. The first sensor worked perfectly for over 3 years!

UPDATE 10/1/2021Just bought a second one because after 4 hot Dallas summers in our pool, this 30 dollar device finally gave up the ghost. While I always used a lube to ensure a water tight seal every time I changed the batteries, the device may have lasted a bit longer if I had also changed out the little desiccant packet. In any case, I've been quite pleased with the performance over the almost 4 years - it's transmitted consistently and has been reasonably accurate. Great value for the price.----------------------------UPDATE 2/9/2021This pool temperature sensor has been great....it's worked well for over 3 years now. I know the temperature sensor is reasonably accurate b/c I bring the sensor into the house to change the batteries once a year and leave it for 30 minutes by the indoor temp sensor to get a relative sense of temperature - and they're just 1 degree apart. The only negative aspect (as this recent picture shows) is that the solar cell cover has clouded over (this happened within a year and then got even worse), so I'm not sure that the solar cells are doing much to help power the sensor, though the 4 AAA batteries do last about a year....I do mention below the 1 maintenance aspect regarding moisture protection/lube required....over all, I'm very satisfied and would absolutely recommend the product.------------------UPDATE 30/09/2019 : I've had this sensor now through two Dallas summers and it's worked just fine. I do think that making sure moisture doesn't get into the unit makes all the difference, details of which I've mentioned below------------------When buying this sensor some reviews said that the pool device stopped working after 1 season, so I was wondering how long mine would work. I can report after 1 year that this remote sensor has worked just fine for me here in Dallas. We've had ambient temperatures below freezing weather to above 100F where the pool temp varied from the 40s to 80s, this sensor has not only worked thru that but also some rough handling by the yard person who while removing the leaves from the pool also accidentally grabbed this sensor too and dumped it on the pool deck. The only thing negative I can say is that the glass above the solar cells have clouded after 10 or 12 months, weakening the solar power. I've had to replace the battery once in the year. The one aspect you have to be careful with is, when opening the sensor to put in the battery, make sure to use the pool and spa lube on the O-ring that's on the blue lid - this enables the O-ring to completely seal the sensor when closed. Else water seeping into the sensor will destroy it.

Get the insurance

The sensor works well for about a year, so get the insurance. I am on my third or fourth one, it quits sending after a year or so in the sun. Other than that, it great having the temperature sent to our base station making the decision to go swimming easy. Our pool has solar heat and we generally don't get in until it hits 90. I would buy more regardless of his failing.

Very Impressive

Have one floating in the pool, the other in the spa, both reporting to the master unit mounted inside and 50 feet away. Quite pleased with the performance so far.UPDATES: Batteries last about a year in 24/7, 365 day/yr operation. Not bad.Mine sit in direct desert son 360 days/year and where summer temperatures will exceed 120 degrees in the summer. Ultraviolet eventually takes a beating on the display and appearance but they just kept on ticking.Until recently. After 2 1/2 years each, they failed. I think that is pretty darn good given conditions they were operating in. Just put in two new ones and thinking about buying two more in case, in another 2 years, they are no longer available.I scrupulously follow directions for fresh desiccant when putting in new batteries.

It did work great for one season - then died

** UPDATED ** 7/11/2016 - I got this in 2015 before the season and it worked great that first year. Then this month I noticed I stopped getting a reading and I thought it was the batteries. But when I opened the unit to replace them, there was some brownish liquid in there - not a lot - but I think enough that it corrode the thermometer that's inside at the bottom. I cleaned it out anyway and replaced the batteries and the display actually came back. So at first I thought I got lucky. But no, after I put it back in the pool I started noticing that the temperature kept rising each day until by today it said 106. Yes, it's been a warm summer, but the pool cannot be 15 to 20 degrees warmer than the air temperature ALL the time. So yes, it still displays and transmits the information to the main display unit inside the house - but it is no longer accurate - so there's not much point to it. I use to laugh at my dad because he was always replacing his $3 thermometer every other season - but I guess he gets the last laugh because if you purchase this item, you need to be prepared to spend $30 each season to replace it.Original Review:I got this to go with the WS-110 display unit and it works great. I had to change the channel of this device to 3 to make sure it works properly with the remote display unit in the house. I haven't any issues with my device. The batteries seem to last a while before needing to be changed. The solar panel is NOT for recharging the batteries - it is only to power the display that's on top of the unit - which I never use anyway because I just use the display unit that's in the house to get the temp.

No more frozen hot tub!

Used it to monitor the hot tub. We have an older hot tub that occasionally shuts off and loses temperature. Not a good thing with winter coming. I have this unit floating in the hot tub and if the temperature gets too low it alarms. It has all ready proven itself as the hot tub went out and it alerted us to the problem with an alarm.Great product.
