Sold as new, but I am pretty sure it is a refurb...
I haven't been sent a new one, but a badly refurbished one.Once out of the box the Silveline sticker on the from fell down.I have notice then that the entire vice has been painted over so many times the 'Silverline' on the side has lost definition, as well the paint locked up the swivel bar that I have wondered myself if I had bought the wrong product.The body looks strange as well, like it has been retouched, the corner are not sharp and in some part looks like filed down.Not really happy, as I am sure this product may be hiding some nasty surprise.

Excellent Vice.++++++
Arrived on time, The box will be very heavy, take care. The Quality of the vice is Excellent heavy and well made. Casting iron resists distortion under high pressure. and work load. Hardened steel jaw plates, chrome-plated handle, lead screw and comes with a small striking anvil, which I think is a bonus. The jaws are well-aligned1, I would recommend you put more grease on the Lead Screw, This will help in the long run. To keep it screw running smooth..2, You will need 3 bolts about 12mm dia, and as long as the thickness of the work top and washers, nuts One point, put a long bar in the jaws and close jaws, This will help to alien the vice. Then mark where it will go. and drill. Silverline delivers tools that comply with the very latest standards in quality and safety. I have put this Vice through some hard work and still works fine. I would Recommend this Vice to the DIY and the Engineer, Which I am.

Well built, good value... one minor problem
This was a replacement for a similar vice that I have used for over 25 years. I over tightened it and stripped the thread!The new vice was about he same weight as the older model but now has a rotatable base which is very useful. The jaws are well-aligned and basically it just works. There has only been one problem; when hack-sawing the vibration repeatedly shook the cap off the tightening rod, causing the rod to fall out. On inspection the rod is not the sturdiest piece of equipment that i have seen but seems to do its job. A small drop of glue made up for the poor threading at the the point where the cap was screwed on.I think this vice represents good value for money. There are some obvious Silverline economies of manufacture but overall it does the job.

Vice.
I had broken my old vice and desperately need a new swivel one to complete a job on hand. I am very pleased with this one. It is strong and sturdy/I would like to add that the wrapping was very bad. When the delivery driver picked it up it fell completely out of the box. He had to tape it up himself. There was no damage done but it would be as well to notify the sender to tape it up more strongly.

Not bad for a cheapy
Arrived and installed without problems and does what it is supposed to. The swivel locking system is not really up to the job - they are small locking bolts which clamp the vice into position but are not big or strong enough to clamp it tight enough for some jobs which would put a twisting force on the vice. The jaws on my vice sre sightly out of alignment so they grip at the left before the right and the cheapness of the unit is reflected in the standard build - but as the title says - it's not bad for the price and does what it is supposed too..

Cracks in vice
Only used this vice for light household use and the vice has developed cracks across its base… very disappointed.
