Instant Oatmeal, Maple and Brown Sugar, 18 Count

I usually get the low sugar version of this, and I bought this by accident. The extra sugar, of course, makes it extra yummy. No, it's not traditional oatmeal and instead instant, with the drawbacks of salt and no control over the flavoring amounts, but it makes a quick and nutritious breakfast. I tend to use skim milk instead of water for a creamier texture. Because I like thicker oatmeal, I use a little less liquid than called for and let it sit for a few minutes before eating. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

I have a problem with getting enough protein daily due to a swallowing issue. My only complaint is that they were shipped in a bag so the boxes were all smashed so in no position could you stand them up in your cupboard or pantry.

I've had this item as a Subscribe & Save for several months, and it always came as six boxes of six packets each, as the description says. This month, only one box of six packets was shipped. I asked for a replacement, and got the same, one box of six packets. I ended up requesting a refund for the order, disappointing. Update: Looks like this has been fixed as of my most recently received subscription, March 2024.

Great taste

If you're like me you grew up in the 90s loving maple& brown sugar, then found the flavor badly changed in the last decade or so. Every once in a while I would buy a box in vain to see if it was any good again. Well the reviews here and 'classic recipe' on the box convinced me to try again, and thank goodness! This instant oatmeal is delicious and i definitely enjoy and recommend it. However the flavor isn't exactly as classic as i remember. No clumps of brown sugar in the packet, which i have mixed feelings about. Sometimes those clumps required muscle to smash into powder even sitting in hot water. But they were very flavorful. Overall if you liked maple &brown sugar flavor years ago you will most likely enjoy this recipe as i do!

I have ordered this several times in the past and received 6 boxes of 6 packets. This time I only received 1 box of six packets and the box was crushed.

This has always been a very good brand. I've never had any issues with Quaker oatmeal, their cereals, granola bars, etc until I bought this particular batch of oatmeal. The picture shown is with all the milk drained out AFTER I decided to throw it away. I attempted to make this in the microwave as always, but less than one minute into the cook time it started smelling burnt. Our microwave is only 800 watts, so 2 minutes cook time is usually perfect. I immediately took the bowl out, and everything looked as I had expected it to. There was still a lot of milk, oats of course were not yet cooked, and it was a very liquid consistency. I thought maybe something else had gotten burned in the microwave and I hadn't been told about it. I stirred everything in the bowl and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I put it back in to continue cooking, but within approximately 35 or 40 seconds I removed it because the burnt smell was overwhelming. I stirred it and noticed a little of the oatmeal randomly here and there had turned dark and did look burnt. It was as if someone added a small handful of something into a recipe and mixed it in, because it was only a very small portion of the oatmeal that seemed burnt. It was so strange and I've never seen anything like this. The picture I took of the oatmeal was after the milk had been drained so it could be scraped into the trash. We have no garbage disposal in this house.
