Very good intro German for kids
2 small text and work books with fun , easy games and pictures. 2 cds included that I just converted to mp3 and then downloaded onto my phone since we dont have a CD player anymore. Overall pretty good and recommend.

Effective and the kids like it.
I play this 2-CD set in the car for my 4 and 6-year-old kids. The older child likes to read along in the workbook, and both like the pictures. They seem to enjoy the CDs and even ask to listen to them. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the content is a little cheesy, sometimes, but kids won't notice. Covers just the basics, but in a way that keeps the kids interested and, I hope, open to learning more as they get a little older. The dialog is spoken by a couple of adults, and then by several children, and there are lots of songs. My two CDs were mislabled (transposed) but I figured it out right away and a magic marker fixed that.

My kids love the songs
We originally purchased the French lesson plan. That one worked so well, we decided to by the German plan once we moved. My kids love the songs! They really help with practice for pronunciation and memory. I only wish the program had a digital option as opposed to CD only.

Two sets in a row defective - but the content is very good
This is a short review to warn people that you should immediately play both audio cd's on receipt to confirm they are in fact the first and second cd's of the set. My original and replacement sets both had a "disc two" that was labeled as disc two but had the identical content to disc one. After one replacement from Amazon I'm trying to see if McGraw-Hill can supply with me with a genuine disc two.Other than that MAJOR issue, the content I've covered so far is very good in all respects.EDIT 10/1/13: Amazon is investigating the problem. I had contacted McGraw-Hill and received a reply - they are useless - they refuse to do anything since I bought from a retailer. I'm hopeful Amazon can obtain some non-defective stock.

German for children
Absolutely loved this program. Although geared for younger children my twelve year old raced through the program and is ready for her trip to germany with her Oma. She can confidently ask and answer simple questions and feels confident she can learn even more from our relatives. Each section includes activities to reinforce learning. Simple, geared toward 5 -10 year olds. This may be a useful resource for older children and adults just starting to learn the language. Perhaps before formal training in high school? as it will provide solid basic skills. At times the music and songs were annoyingly repetitive but so effective that very little repitiion was needed. As noted by other reviewers the discs were mislabeled but no information was missing so it really didn't matter once we figured it out. I would definately recommend this as an easy tool to quickly learn german basics at any age.

Excellent starter in German for children
I bought this for a very intelligent, but severly crippled young boy at out church with the hope that, since he can barely walk and will probably never be able to run and play with other kids, perhaps expanding his mind is in order. He loves history and is especially interest in Germany during the Hitler years. He seemed facinated to learn that I speak German and some Russian. I asked if perhaps he would like to learn some basic German and he thought he would. The only drawback I find with this course is that it is all audio and books. It would improve the course if it had a video component since most children are strongly "visual learners".However, otherwise it seems to be a very well-built course and I would recommend it to other.

A great tool to learn German but...
I bought a German teaching CD but it started with a conversation on a plane and buying furniture. I'm looking for the basics since i'm a beginner. It was my doctor who gave me the idea to watch cartoons in German. Well, i need someone to tell me what's being said. so, i thought of getting children's book and CD teaching German and this fit the bill! Yes, the CD's are mislabeled. But I do wish the other reviewers were a little bit more descriptive on the error. The CD labelled as CD One is actually CD Two and so the same with the other one. I know it doesn't take rocket science to understand and rectify this error but it helps if someone just says it! C'mon, we all live a busy, stressed filled life.In short, anyone interested to learn a new language, begin with children's book before going for the adult stuff.05/07/13: Oh my goodness, the CD with lesson 2 is messed up! I wonder how many more...

Best present I have ever bought
I bought this for my 4-year-old goddaughter who loves reading and languages. She always enquires about words in different languages, so I thought something like this would be great. Seen as I'm Austrian, I went for the German option and it was the best present I could have ever bought her.She has had it for about 4 weeks now and is playing the CDs all day every day. When I had a phone call recently, she sang the "Eins, zwei, drei,..." song down the phone at me and it made my day. ;-)

Boring
The tone and pace of the woman narrating is annoyingly slow. I can't imagine any child listening intently to the monotonous sound. The accompanying book is too fussy and very dated looking.

Wish it had pictures or full DVD instead of just an audio.
Very educational dvd but not clear where I am supposed to turn the book.I prefer if it was a full dvd with pictures and books.

very good.
My ex wife enjoys it enormously. She confiscated it immediately from my daughter and is now reading it herself without saying anything to me about it.
