Im not sure what type of metal im using it on. It is non magnetic. Will this black oxide harm the metal in any way or will it just not have an affect?

If it’s non magnetic, then this will not work. Whether it would harm the metal is dependent on what sort of metal it is.

Will this work on a steel putter head?

Yes, as long as it is carbon steel. If you don’t like the final finish, it is as easy as sanding the putter back to its original state. I hope this helps.

Once sealed, can the oil be removed to avoid atracking dust? Looking for something to restore typewriter linkages, and they must be assembled "dry".

This product is just the blackener. The sealer is not included. If you want a dry finish, seal it with our "Caswell Sealer" as opposed to the oily penetrating sealer.

Will this work on Aluminum Alloy ?

This will not work for aluminum. There is another product that you can order online that will darken aluminum. I do not remember the name specifically.

Blackens steel and iron parts (not stainless steel). Parts must be sealed after blackening. Use our Penetrating Sealer or Caswell Sealer. Mix 1 part Concentrate with 9 parts distilled water. 1 quart of concentrate makes 2.5 gallons of blackening solution. Parts Coverage - 600 to 1200 sq. ft. of surface area blackened per gallon of concentrate. Immerse the part in the mixed Black Oxide Solution and swirl around for between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. Alternatively, the part may simply be placed in the solution for 5 - 10 minutes. Remove the part from the solution and rinse in fresh water. Use at room temperature. Contains Hazardous Goods.
