A fine string to the Arrow franchise's bow
While previous volumes of the "Arrow" tie-in comics were a series of short one-shots, "Season 2.5 is significantly more substantial, with 3 full length stories that ultimately thread together (mostly) and feels like a very true intervening segment between seasons 2 and 3 of Arrow. The book is split into three sections: Blood, Crisis in Kahndaq, and Green. Each one builds upon an existing piece of the Arrow mythos in a meaningful way and really sets the stage for how Season 3 begins, filling in a lot of blanks that are left in between. We see Roy become Arsenal, the first appearance of the new Count Vertigo, complete with Fear toxin knock-off drug, and the aftermath of the Mirakuru soldiers' attack on Starling. The characterisation is pretty much dead-on and, much moreso than any of the previous tie-ins, feels like it truly could have been a missing episode (or episodes) of the show. The art is also consistently good, if not anything particularly special, but I have become so used to completely phoned-in artwork for tie-ins that Joe Bennett's stuff really shines here, though the Crisis in Kahndaq chapter is drawn by Szymon Kudranski; a different, more gritty looking style which suits the story it tells. If you can only get one "Arrow" tie-in, make it this one; it's by far the best of the bunch and even works as a stand alone, although it will massively improve your enjoyment of the story if you've seen "Arrow" Season 2.

Excellent TV tie-in
The 12-issue comic book series of the TV show tie-in title ‘Arrow Season 2.5’ are collected as Arrow Season 2.5 TP . The three stories collected in this volume are set in-between seasons 2 and 3 of the Arrow TV series, and are intended to fill-in some of the back-story to plot developments taking place in season 3.The three stories are“Blood”, 130 pages, sees a new Brother Blood taking office, and continuing to experiment with the Mirakuru drug. One of his ‘volunteers’ has a history with the Queen family, and will be seen again in “Green”. Among other threads, in this story, Black Canary is back in town, the Huntress is out on parole, Roy is in a coma after being injured, and Felicity is kidnapped by super-villains, and Diggle is drafted back to the Suicide Squad and sent overseas.“Suicide Squad - Crisis in Khandaq”, 30 pages, shows us what Diggle and the Suicide Squad were up to during th previous story.“Green”, 80 pages, sees one of Brother Blood’s successful experiments from the first story out to take revenge on Oliver Queen and his family and friends for something that happened to his family several years ago. This story sees Slade Wilson making a guest appearance. These are all excellent stories, written by the TV show’s writers, so they fit into the series continuity and fill in some gaps in the storyline, and the artwork is also excellent. If you follow the Arrow TV series, then this will be essential reading for you; and note that Felicity Smoak has just joined the cast of the regular Green Arrow comic - see Green Arrow TP Vol 7 .Note also that there is a similar book for the Flash TV series - Flash Season Zero TP - that provides the origin of King Shark and his induction into the Suicide Squad.

Perfect gift for someone who loves the to show and would like to get into comics. Characters are already familiar, plot holes filled and nicely sets up season 3.
