As far as the cost is concerned, I really do not know why these magnets are so expensive. As far as does it work. Yep. Very well. BUT:Before I received this magnet, I watched a You Tube clip by some guy that was very negative about this magnet. The reason? Because it is very easy to forget your gun in your vehicle. I thought by myself: “That would never happen with me. I am way to careful for leaving my gun in my vehicle.” Turns out I am one of those guys who do forget. And not once only. If you purchase this handy gadget, beware en be careful. Don’t say it would never happen to you.I seldom use this magnet for the above reason. But I most certainly use it when travelling through dengerous areas and at night - and, believe me, living in South Africa is not a joke. With major roads marked with traffic signals advertising “High Hijack Risk” and “High Crime Areas” I feel much more comfortable with my Glock 19 in condition 1 with my knee resting against it knowing it is there, ready to go when needed.But please don’t forget your handgun in your vehicle as I have done. And I am not stupid and all those adjectives you may be thinking of at the moment.Addition insights on 13 June 2021: The magnet is still there where I mounted it. I occasionally use it - but only when I am in condition orange and up, normally in dangerous areas or whilst driving at night on our dangerous roads in SA. Would I purchase it now if I had the oppurtunity? Definitely not, as my trustworthy partner now rides in my handcrafted shoulder holster that I made myself.

I got this to secure my house gun (Glock 19 with TLR-1 light) to my bed frame. It holds it securely where I can grip it. Before everyone says what if a child gets to it, let me be clear , my wife and I are seniors with no children of others in the home. I have several gun safes to secure my weapons it we have a visitor. As a side note we experience power failures on an almost regular basis, with this mount I can find my pistol with the night sights and activate the flashlight to light up the room to find my other flashlight.It grips the pistol well, but you can pull it loose without issue. I said I would not mount it in a vehicle for several reasons. It could dislodge in a crash or worse you forget it when leaving your vehicle inviting theft.

Bought to install under my steering wheel to carry my full metal frame SIG with a 17 round mag and it holds it no issue. Worth the money, and the rubber coating keeps the coating on my gun from rubbing off. Don't plan to only use the provided 3M tape to hold it securely unless you're just using it to install the screws as it won't hold the weight of a heavy firearm unless secured with said screws. All in all I'm very happy with how well it works.

Not practical for side attachment to pistol because of limited space to get your fingers between the grip and the surface to which the magnet is stuck. Best configuration is top of slide attachment to keep both sides of the grip clear for thumb and fingers. But that only works if you have a flat-topped slide like a Glock. Won't work with rounded tops like a 1911 - you'll need to use a side attachment for that. This goes inside my center console box. To draw, grab the grip with your normal shooting hold, tug away the forward part of the weapon from the magnet with a forward pitch motion, and pull the aft portion upward and away from the magnet. That prevents banging the sights against the magnet or surface. The provided 3M double backed tape holds securely to plastic dashboard and console materials, smooth or textured. It holds even harder on steel safe boxes like a Tuffy because of the additional force of the magnet on the steel safe. I ordered a second set to mount my batons, pens, knives, Leatherman, etc.

The magnet works great,l holds my firearm securely and does what I need it to do. The provided adhesive will not remain stuck to the inside of my console, and I do not want to drill holes in my truck.

This is a great product. Needless to say, you can't use it at home if you have children. But I'm single and live in the boondocks so this is a terrific product. I've installed two of these, one upstairs and one downstairs and they hold my Glock and my revolver very well. Both guns are mounted vertically to the magnet, and the magnets are attached to the underside of two pieces of furniture. The magnetic force is more than strong enough to hold the guns, but not so strong as to make them awkward to use. They included an adhesive strip for attaching the magnet, but I wouldn't trust it. I used the provided wood screws, so you should locate the magnet where the screws can be used. I'm thinking about buying another magnet to hold a spare magazine for my Glock. I tested the no-scratch claim, and it is indeed true. After repeated use, no marring whatsoever on my Glock.THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT!!!

I never used the adhesive mount but when screwed in, it's solid, doesn't scratch what's stuck to it, and aside from the magnet pulling the screws sideways when you start to drive them in, it's a piece of cake to install.I used one as a hidden latch and have some in key locations for tools. Foam packaging is a bit excessive and would probably be cheaper without it, but they are a decent price for what you get.

These work very well, and are a very powerful magnet, I like it so well, I bought another one at a later time, and they come with mounting screws and adhesive strips, which ever you choose to use, can be used to hold multiple things in multiple positions Depending upon your needs.
