Holy COW this thing is bright!Actually, the whole reason for buying this light is cows. Living on a farm affords opportunities not available to unsuspecting "city folk, and wandering cows is one of them. The proverb says that curiosity will kill a cat, but a cat's curiosity has nothing on the nosiness of a cow, and if one cow in the herd thinks she sees something worth exploring, they ALL go with her, to check it out....and they love to explore the great unknown after dark, which means, basically, that a cow will walk straight through an electrified fence in the dark, simply because she thought there might be something there.When this happens, somebody (me) has to go out, in the dark (and it can be exceptionally dark in the middle of a cow pasture in the middle of the night), to round the girls up and convince them to come back into their fenced in pasture.This light is absolutely awesome! It puts out enough light to convince even the most skeptical cow that it is daytime in the middle of the field, and that it would be a really good idea to go to the "daytime"....making the job of rounding up errant cows and getting them back home safe and sound. This light also puts out enough light to make it easier to find the break in the fence and mend it without having to walk the entire paerimeter, hunting for a downed wire.The bottom line is this, This light was shipped promptly, was well packaged, and I was thrilled to discover that it was also nearly completely charged when it arrived, so it didn't take a full 24 hours to charge it before I could use it....which was a good thing, because the girls tried to make a break for it the evening that my Cyclops C18 Mil Thor X arrived.You may never need to chase cows or track broken fence lines in the middle of the night, but if you want a rechargeable light that will provide enough light to help you to work on your car after it breaks down along the side of the road, finish that outside patio project, or light up the back yard for a late night party, this is the light you need.

A few years ago my sister gave me a version of this type of mega-flashlight as a house-warming gift. It was a Restoration Hardware branded flashlight, and the power was amazing. The spotlight function was so bright you felt like you could go head to head with a full moon and the flashlight would win. Unfortunately an employee of my company let his kids play with it, and they managed to destroy it about 2 months after I received it. I ordered this one as a replacement, hoping to have some outdoor floodlight fun with the kids coming to stay for the 4th of july day after tommorrow.Unfortunately this one arrived in disrepair. The right side turn-knob that holds the leg apparatus to the body of the flashlight could not be locked into place, as the metal part the knob is supposed to screw into had come loose, I could hear the part rattling around inside the plastic casing.I plugged it in for a charge anyway, and after a couple of hours I got a flashing red light that supposedly indicated the battery was fully charged, The literature says it needs 15 hours to fully charge, so I guessed it had arrived partially charged. I removed the tape holding the switch in the OFF position during the shipping process, and switched the flashlight to ON. Nada, Zip, nothing. No light.SO I took the flashlight out to my car to use the 12volt power source on my dashboard, the manufacturer says the light can be used immediately when connected to this power source. Again, I was left in the dark.Very disappointed, I logged on to Amazon to begin the return procedure, only to get a screen telling me this is a product contains "HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS OR GASES" and is therefore not returnable! None of these materials was mentioned in the item description, and I cannot really see how "Flammable Liquids or Gases" could be useful in a flashlight. Amazon suggests that I "contact my local government for directions on how to dispose of Household Hazardous Waste".Amazon sold me this lemon, did not inform me a defective product would not be accepted for return until it was too late. And the product description still being used on Amazon does not mention the "Hazardous materials, flammable liquids or gases" that this flashlight seems to be full of.I am completely and totally disappointed in Amazon.

I live on 12 acres of farm land and from one end to the other is 1 mile. After charging the unit, I tried both settings low & high and could not believe how much area this lit up! I could clearly see the through my tree lines. We have a rail line at the back and a passing train was shining though the trees! And this has such a broad area of illumination that any animal or other intruder would not be able to hide. My daughter loves this light and she is only 5'1" 90 lbs but she carries this huge thing to check on our animals.This a a very broad area of illumination and while that is good it is also bad. I would have liked the ability to focus the beam because even though I can see the tree line, it is still difficult to clearly identify a problem. We have wolves, coyotes and foxes around here and I would like to be able to spot them from a greater distance. Defending our livestock is secondary to the safety of my family and seeing them before they see us is vital. The 2 light settings help conserve battery power ( low & high ) and extending usage.The legs have dials that make it possible to stand this light up in many angles or slopes but it would be nice if it had little rubber pads to prevent the unit from slipping. I intend on purchasing some and adding them the the legs. I hope this helps.
