I love it.
I love the retractable nose which shortens the pen for shallow pockets. I think that some of the mechanism complaints are due to the fact that it appears to be an obvious clicker pen. So people push on the end, again, harder. The twist action actually functions very smoothly. The pen looks great, feels great, and takes a Parker G2 refill which comes in numerous brands, colors, line weights, quality grades, etc. There's bound to be one that's just right for a discerning user. It's a little pricey, but I'd buy it again!

rOtring quality
Just the right amount of heft. Classy look and quality operation. Some may prefer a slightly larger diameter for writing comfort, but that would have drawbacks as well. Looks exactly like the rOtring 800 mechanical pencil when the tip is withdrawn, you have to read the markings on the side to tell them apart. That may be a plus or a minus depending on your point of view. The cartridge is quite smooth-writing, although I may still change to a Jetstream cartridge at some point.

Fantastic durable pen, weird mechanism
Out the gate I have had this pen since late 2019 and it has seen use nearly every day. It is beat up, covered in scratches, chipping the black paint, and it is only just recently giving me troubles with the twisting mechanism to extract the ball point. It still functions just fine, but I have to give the mechanism like a half twist then I have to tap the ball point lightly on a desk and it retracts. Something with the piece of plastic inside the twist mechanism is wearing down and the threads holding it on have bent a little so its wobbly. Admittedly that main issue, which is the only one I have, is likely my fault because I am a fidgety person and I often use the twist mechanism to mess with while I'm working. I think if the stress test for the mechanism was 10,000 twists I've probably double that with how often I play with it. The extension on the twist mechanism does throw a lot of people off because it genuinely looks like it should be clicked like normal. Why that's there I have no idea because the internal components that operate the twisting have nothing to do with that extra piece. Almost like it's decorative. But once people figure it out they always compliment how nice the pen is. Some people say they aren't a fan of the grip but I love the grip on it. Writing is super smooth and the ink never breaks up. All in all, I am actively planning to buy a replacement, though I may just get a new one and swap out the twist mechanism because the scratches and chipped paint have given it some character and I've grown fond of it.

Love the pen...but was disappointed in the ball refill included.
I really like pens. I have quite a collection of higher end ballpoint, fountain and roller ball pens. I had a rOtring years ago and lost it and when I saw this one on Amazon, I decided to get another one. The pen is quality. It has a nice heft. Not so heavy that it is fatiguing to use, but has a good quality feel. Also, I like the feature where the point retracts into the body of the pen, protecting it from drops and from stabbing yourself when you put it in a pocket. My only disappointment in the pen I received was the ballpoint refill seemed to have dried up. I don't know if it was defective, stored improperly or if there was another cause, but it would not write. I tried all the usual methods to get it working to no avail. I ended up ordering a couple of refills, which I normally like to have on hand anyway and when I put the new refill in, the pen worked fine. That is the only reason I knocked off a star. BTW, the refills are not super expensive. I have included two photos of the pen, one with the point retracted and one with the point extended. Your mileage may vary...maybe I got one that had been sitting in the warehouse too long. Still a great pen that I recommend.

Solidly built, high quality and great looking
This is a very high quality pen. It has a an excellent feel in the hand, feeling substantial due to the solid metal construction. The black colored pen looks especially stunning with the contrasting gold coloring and vivid red lettering. I've been a fan of Rotring writing instruments for MANY years and this pen evokes fond memories of the fine instruments from Rotring from years ago, all of which are still working perfectly to this day. This pen pairs perfectly with the 800 series mechanical pencil with the same gold accents and the same style of retractable tip. It's also nice that it uses the standard Parker type refills which are extremely easy to obtain and available in a variety of point sizes and formulations (standard ink, gel, etc.). I saw one review that stated "Not worth the money" without giving any reason whatsoever for this opinion. It would be nice to know why the reviewer came to this conclusion, because maybe the reason they have for not liking it may be the very reason someone else loves it. In my personal opinion, I think it is well worth the price if you appreciate a very well crafted, solid feeling, and good looking writing instrument. If those are not your priorities, then I agree that you may be very happy with an alternative, in much the same way that a large percentage of the population can be happy with a Toyota rather than a Porsche.

Good feel
OK... I'm a sucker for a good pen. This one has great heft and feel. But end of the day, a ballpoint pen's quality is about the cartridge. I swapped out the provided one with a Fischer Space Pen refill, and I could ask nothing more of the package.

Eu já possuía a lapiseira Rotring 800 0.5 mm e resolvi adquirir a caneta correspondente, e ela também é de excelente qualidade.

I read the reviews about the Rotring 800 and went back and forth between it and the 600. After researching and reading about them both, I decided to go for the 800. I have owned a Rotring pencil for almost 30 years and enjoy it but never liked the protruding tube that holds the lead. I've poked myself a few times. That helped to decide on the 800. Plus, I wanted a decent pen and to have a matching set (pen and pencil) was attractive. I have a Waterman Perspective and enjoy it for my contemplative writing. It is almost twice the weight of the Rotring 800 and is superbly balanced. The 800 is my go-to pen. I use it for work and general notes. Smooth as silk, doesn't not rattle as others have mentioned with theirs. Love the balance of it and tho it has some weight, it's not heavy. I read of one person's review elsewhere that the 800 was heavy and they didn't like it. I suspect they might get a hernia lifting a spoon in that case. Of course, the 800 writes much better than a spoon and will not cause hernias or other bodily ailments unless you grip the pen as tight as a life-saving rope. The knurling (i.e., rough texture) for the grip area is just right (for moi): offers enough anti-slip grip without being abrasive. Black ink isn't my fave, but I can live with it for now. Once I use it up, I'll check out something in the blue spectrum, like jazz. Smooth operation, from writing to the twist mechanism to open or close the pen point. And no pokey points to pin your nipple, er, chest. Clips on tightly. Happy writer here.
