This is a good, reasonably priced unit and works as it should. I use it around the house to test any electrical work I do and also around the farm to test tractor/car batteries, electric fences etc. Very useful.

A loud bang, the leads were blackened but I'm still alive and the meter is fine. The current possibly went through the meter or it arced over the terminals... I'm not fully sure but the entire metal end was blackened. Cleaned off with a wire brush.That's pretty good if you ask me. Just don't copy me or you might end up dead.PS: I learnt my lesson about capacitors and using resistors to discharge them... I now use a heat gun plugged into an extension with no plug except an exposed 16 Amp cable on the very end, supported by a plastic bar. It discharges any capacitor in seconds safely...

Even though the Hermes messed up the initial delivery, I chose to give a top rating as the product is amazing value for money and works very well. When I say "easy to use" that is if you are an electrician. The rest of us need to learn as we go along, and when you know what you are doing it is easy to use. Great for testing battery voltage and low voltage chargers. I discovered that a number of charger that I assumed we working were only delivering around 10% of what they should be.I have now had the product a few months and used it a fair bit. The wire broke on the red probe at the joint with the pin. It is always a pain trying to sort things on warranty so I cut the probe near the pin and solders the wire and then used araldite to join back to the handle. All the manufacturers need to do is add some adhesive where the wire goes through the handle to avoid strain on the joint. I have done this now on the black and red handles. If you buy one I suggest putting a drop of superglue where the wires enter the handles - jon done. I still rate as a good product , just a minor flaw with easy resolution.

I bought this multimeter to replace my old one which died after many years of service. If you are diagnosing faults or repairing car electrical circuits a good multimeter is an absolute necessity.This multimeter is excellent value for money at less than £10 and has a great stand to prop the meter up while working. The blue backlight stays on for several seconds before switching off to save power, but plenty long enough to see the screen reading. It requires a 9V PP3 battery to work which is also included, but make sure you have a watchmaker sized Philipps screwdriver to access the battery compartment. This multimeter truly does everything you would need it to do, plus much more. A great find!

I hooked this up to a bench supply. The 200mV and 2V are accurate and the 20V rating is still within spec. Anything above that is untrustworthy. My supply outputs a max of 32VDC, but according to this meter on the 200VDC setting it was pushing nearly 50VDC and the readings changed dramatically as I applied pressure to the lead receptacles. Amperage is slightly out of spec (2A on the bench supply became 2.17A on the meter). Again, the value changed as you fiddled with the lead receptacles. Diode and continuity tests are fine.So for low voltage work it's fine. For high voltage work, avoid it as best you can. I wouldn't dare trust this meter on the 600v setting.

Tested with a calibrated, tried and true older multimeter, this thing indeed does measure pretty accurately, close enough for most purposes anyway. It only gets inaccurate in very low AC ranges with either very high or very low frequency, but that's not really surprising considering the price.Came banged and scratched out of the box, battery screw broke immediately when opened. 9V battery was a lead battery, I didn't know they even made those anymore. The battery barely fit into the slot, taking it out took me 5 minutes and I had to open the whole cover.The circuit is legit and works fine, solders looked good enough. after a couple of minutes of looking, didn't find a fuse or any other protective measures. Case is horribly cheap plastic, all pieces rattle around and barely fit together.Pros:+Cheap+Works in most applications just fineCons:-Cheap, and it shows.-Case is very flimsy and of poor quality-Gets inaccurate the closer you go to the lower or higher ranges of the device-Test leads are also very cheap plastic, which in my experience will start flaking and getting brittle fast -> no insulation-Continuity test has a huge (0,5sec) delay which caused me to believe one of my solders was a cold solder until I tried again.Summary:If you just want a basic multimeter to test battery voltages, testing resistors, or just to have one in case your good multimeter dies, this will do just fine. Don't expect it to be anything special though.

Can't really complain at this for the price, although it almost went straight back after it arrived.I attached the supplied battery and it did absolutely nothing, no idea why because I swapped it out with the battery in my smoke detector and that worked with it and the smoke detector battery worked with the meter, so no idea what happened.It's been years since I've used a multimeter so wouldn't know how to test out all the features on it. I just used the continuity feature to diagnose a fault on my tumble dryer, it worked perfectly for that

It works fine, though I won't be using it for anything too technical. I've docked it a couple of stars because nowhere in the instructions does it mention that the battery compartment can't be accessed without the yellow trim being removed. I thought I was going to have to return it until I figured that one out, then it was a simple process to install the battery.
