Umaro Applewood Smoke Plant-Based Vegan Bacon

My vegetarian daughter with Celiac can enjoy bacon! This stuff is awesome. So flavorful and so close to the taste of bacon…. I think, I haven’t actually eaten bacon in over 40 years but I seem to recall it tasted like this.

I sprinkled it lightly with cumin, pepper & garlic powder then fried it lightly in Miyokos Vegan butter for 2 seconds and it was perfect for crumbles. I ate it the way it was from the package and it was phenomenal as well. I’ll be making this and having fun experimenting for a wonderful diet.

The box in the Amazon listing says gluten free. I tried this for the first time today and not long after developed a headache and got very nauseous. I got the box out of the trash and sure enough it didn’t say anywhere on it that it’s gluten free despite the listing picture saying GF on the front. I’m guessing there is some kind of wheat product used in the flavoring. If you aren’t supposed to have gluten don’t buy this. Kinda deceitful to show listing pictures saying gluten free and then send out a product that isnt.

I gave five stars for taste however, the consistency of number of pieces is way off one package was 8 pieces, one was 9 pieces and my current one is 7 pieces making this two stars and a bit over priced, as it made me none to happy. Only other suggestion would be more protein but I’ll take taste over protein. Overall I have waited 40 years for this!

As faux bacon goes, this is very tasty and crispy. I subtracted a star because it’s very greasy (it’s needed to crisp up the strips) so I served with a paper towel to wipe the strips before eating. I will certainly order again.

So freaking deliciousI air fried mine and made a BLT...MIND BLOWN!I would buy this in bulk just to have my non vegan friends try it.

As a vegan of almost 12 years, and ex-bacon lover, I can honestly say this is the closest thing I've ever tried to actual bacon. The only reason I'm docking points is because it was so oily and rich that I could hardly eat it. The taste is exactly what I remember but it's way too oily. I would use this for recipies that call for bacon bits or some kind of dish where you're not eating plain bacon.

It's the closest thing to pork bacon and I'm a meat eater. Has the crunch, texture and smokey flavor, but and a big big but!!! There's so much oil when you bite into it it's like a gusher. So much oil busting in your mouth. I made a BLT and the bread absorbed some of the oil so it helped. If they can figure out a way to control that it would be perfect.
