Idemitsu Full Synthetic 5W-20 Engine Oil SN/GF-5-5QT

Japanese oil for a Japanese car. Idemitsu is a reputable oil company meeting the latest specs. They have been the factory oil is Suburu’s, which is Toyota. They also produce Genuine Honda Oil.Idemitsu oil is known for having more Moly than most US oils. You really do not need the Extra Moly version unless your car is brand new. The Honda factory fill is very high in moly, but it’s not needed after the break in period. If you wanted high Moly for the second or third oil change, perhaps buy the high Moly oil. After that, switch to this oil. High Moly oil has the benefit of reduced friction, but it has a few downsides too.

I used to run Mobil 1 synthetic oil on all my cars and that was great. The only thing was that it was expensive, with the cheapest 5qt. coming in around $26-27. I decided to try the Idemitsu since it had good reviews and I have not been disappointed. It's a Japanese oil brand and they're apparently the suppliers of many Japanese auto manufactureres. If its good enough for them, its good enough for me. I'll be switching over to this from now on!

First time I tried this even if a little expensive from the regular one that I used cause engine burned oil I just want to compare the result..Update: September 23,2020Since my engine is burning oil until I try this and I’m already driven at more than 1k miles now I checked the oil dipstick I found out that the oil is works great on my engine because it still in the max level and I’m so happy with the result.. but still 4 stars because of the price from $36 jumped to $44.. And now 10/01/2020 priced update : the price goes wild to $55 WOW!!!!

I tried this because of claims that Idemitsu is OEM provider for Subaru. I can confidently state that this is motor oil.The labeling shows that it meets API and ILSAC standards, and will protect any engine that calls for the ratings that it meets. It should perform as well as any other motor oil that meets these same standards.

Been running this stuff for 70k miles now in my ‘18 Impreza. I drive my car like I stole it, and it’s tuned for 93 octane. Blackstone tests look great, and even suggest I can go longer than the 5-6k intervals between oil changes that I do just to be safe. Rumor is it’s the Subaru oil without the rebranding.

Purchased a new 2019 Subaru. I always change the oil at half the mileage from the normal oil change interval.After a week of researching I’ve decided that this oil is basically the same thing as what the dealerships use (rebranded for Subaru).Excellent price. Did not rate for Mileage or Longevity.Will buy again for my older Toyota RAV4 when it’s time to start fluid drains.

Where did my review go? I know I reviewed this earlier. Perhaps because I bought more? I will continue to buy more!. My mileage increased from ~48 mpg to ~52 mpg. It seems the product's claims are verifiable. This is not the cheapest synthetic, but it's also not the most expensive. So far my engine has not overheated and seized due to lack of oil. It seems to protect as well as another oil.

This oil is SN/GF-5 the newest version is SN/GF-6, not sure if that's what they will shop you but just be aware that there is an new version available.
