To secure armoury I was researching safes at great length, as not all safes are the same. Unfortunately, a quick web search on "safe opened with a magnet" revealed a number of videos (on that well-known video site) showing a Sentry safe opened with just a magnet. To be fair however, applicable to not just this safe, but a number of different brands and models that feature a solenoid-released handle (so a middle-ground 3* for this and all such safes). I therefore opted for a 'sold secure' safe, specifically with motor-driven bolts that cannot be defeated by such means, enabling me to lock away double-bitted keys for proven mechanical safes. Do your homework to safeguard your valuables for the long-term, as thieves quickly catch on.

Craftsmanship is excellent, I have had this for about 5 years or so, still functions as the day I bought it.

The safe is a perfect size. Heavy and smooth enough that thieves can’t just carry it away. Rotary lock is great as it doesn’t need batteries, big bonus.

I hope I never test the fire proofness of this safe, but that was a prime motivation - to protect some material. This is a heavy beast, and if that isn't enough, then just bolt it to the floor. How safe is a safe? That's the ultimate question I guess - and I've watched numerous videos for this brand and that of many others. They can be broken into, but it will take a bit of time, and hopefully it will first discourage anyone that comes face to face with it. I intentionally chose this model which is mechanical - because I hate finding leaky batteries in something expensive that I haven't touched in 6 months or 2 years. The mechanism is easy to operate and feels secure. They have a number of sizes from much smaller to much larger, and I appreciated being able to pick a safe by the storage capacity. The online pictures show you what you need to know - so I didn't include any from my installation. The combination was a challenge to remember, but finally I did, and I appreciate that it is designed
