SRAM MRX Comp = Shimano front/Rear derailleur equip bikes
This is a complete set.Meaning, it includes 2 shifters for left (3 speed) and right (depending on your bike cassette speed), cables included plus the SRAM hand grips.Very easy to install. I did not even have to adjust the brakes handles.IF you have a Shimano front and rear derailleur, the SRAM MRX Comp is the correct shifters to get. Cable pull when you twist the grips is 2 to 1 ratio. The MRX Comp is not for you if you have a SRAM front and rear derailleur. You will need to get the SRAM COMP, without the MRX label for it to work with the SRAM equip front/rear derailleur. The cable pull of the SRAM Comp is 1 to 1 ratio.I made a mistake ordering the SRAM Comp at first and that did not work especially the rear Shimano derailleur. This set work as a replacement for my two, 18 year old Specialized Hard Rock, 7 speed mountain bikes.Recommended buy.

Great for my Schwinn mountain bike
Bike was given to me and since I outgrew my old bike it was a bonus to get this quality bike for nothing but the rear shifter was broken so bought these and with no experience adjusting them it was common sense to adjust so the gears work. I go biking like 3 times a year and why buy a new bike and spend all that money so just fixed the freebie bike and save a load of money. I'm happy it went as smooth as it did, just a note they didn't come with the tubes that the cables slide into but old ones where just fine do reused them.

Great shifters for my old bike
Work great on my old 21 speed Specialized Hybrid with Shimano derailleurs and are very good quality have a good solid feel to them.Shifting is very quite and smooth, Chain falls right in place on the cassette.Front chain-ring shifter the same and of course you can float these a bit too if needed, I noticed a couple people thought that was a problem but I like to be able to tweak the shift and is one of the advantages of these type shifters. So all in all these are a great replacement for my Shimano shifters, the chain-ring one cracked after only 19 years and going on10,000 miles hard to find quality these days but I think these will fit the bill : )

A great, inexpensive replacement gripshift.
Easy to install and comes with all the parts you'll ever need. As a bonus, it comes with instructions on how to replace the cable in addition to the installation instructions. Next time, you can simply purchase the cable and use these instructions to replace the cable instead of buying a whole new set (which some other shifters require). These are a big step up from the original shifters that came with my wife's bike. There is more surface area to grip the shifters and there are intermediate clicks between the front gears, significantly decreasing the effort required to shift to those higher gears. The fine tuners are sturdy and are really helpful to prevent chain rub.Overall, I'd say it has good/great build quality for the cost. The only thing that feels cheap about them are the gear indicators, which I'm OK with.

Good replacement for worn original parts.
Original shifters were finally starting to fail, and hand grips were pretty worn. These were not the cheapest, but for 18 speed it was the best looking option. After installing and a little dialing in I am totally satisfied. Replacement grips look nice.Pros - Decent build quality, includes cables and gripsCons - Grips are ok, but provide a little less cushion than some. Washers (that go between the shifter and grip, were not included, I reused the old ones). Would be nice if they threw in a couple of cable crimps to complete the install.

Super value
This is a department-store quality shifter set which is a perfect replacement for a department-store quality bike. The front is non-indexed which was a great match for the no-name front derailleur on the bike. The rear is indexed and compatible with the low-end shimano back end. The new grips were a nice bonus and brought new life to the handlebars.

Nice replacement for 30-year-old broken shifter
These replaced a similar shifter branded Shimano on my crappy old Sears "hybrid" bike that I use for commuting. You'll need an adjustable wrench or set of wrenches and a set of metric hex wrenches.I left the cables full-length and just wrapped the loose ends into a nice loop, thereby not having to dig up those crimp-on cable ends or dragging out the soldering iron to keep the cable ends from fraying. I like the loops, they remind me of in high school when all the cool guys in garage bands would do the same with their electric guitar strings, so the tuning pegs looked a lot like they were in the middle of a razor-wire fence, you know.It took me a couple of tries to figure out the rear shifter, was relaxed 1st or 6th gear? Somehow I muddled through and now my bike has all eighteen speeds back, of which I use the top three.Oh, here's a handy tip. The new grips can be a bear to push onto the handlebar ends. If you have an air compressor, put the air-blower tip (as opposed to filling tires tip or basketballs tip) on it, block the hole in the other end of the handlebar (or grip, if there's one still on) and "inflate" the new grip by blowing compressed air into the small hole in the end of it. That makes it expand and it will slip right on.

Better than the original ones
I bought my bike at a big-box warehouse and the original shifters were rather low quality and started falling apart soon. These shifters seemingly are much better built. The set contains two shifters (one 7 speed for rear, one 3 speed for front) with the cables already installed. Since I decided to use different cables however I had to discard them and install the other ones. Getting the cables installed is a breeze... nothing to take apart, just follow the instructions.Time and mileage will tell how good they fare. So far I have no complaints. BTW: the suffix MRX means that these SRAMs are compatible with Shimano derailleurs.UPDATE April 2014:Still looking good and going strong and shifting accurately after over a year. I shift a lot because there is so much wind in Southeast FL, so they got their fair use! Very recommended.

Solid replacement
Not quite as nice in terms of feedback as the shifters they replaced but they are good for the price and gave an old bike a new lease of life.

Entry level, works well, the price is right
Original item, came with the cables and the grips. They're not the best shifters if you know about bikes but they're more than enough for most people and they do the job very well. The price is right too.I used these to replaced the ones on my Specialized Hardrock.

Great
Great value for kids shifters. The package does include grips and cables, which makes for even better value but would have been nice to know in the product description.
