Why this is not good for pvc pipe ?

PVC pipe does not have the same dimensions. Also, the knobs on the side are made for wood and do not always allow for a good fit. If you want to install one of these on a PVC duct for a furnace I suggest a termination vent like this - https://ventmastersstore.com/collections/pvc-termination-vents/products/3-round-pvc-termination-vent

Does this fit into the end of the exterior 3" pvc furnace vent pipes? [as does "raven tvs3ss 3" vent pvc termination screen" product]

Manufacturer states not for PVC.

What is the net free ventilation area?

Pie X Radius minus 12% for the screen. So...3.146 X 1.5 = 7.07 inches of area, -12% = 6.22". Net size of the hole is 6.22". (or there abouts)
