Lakme - again proves it is the best !!
Colour, Consistency and TextureThe colour of the liner is dark black, perfect for everyday use but still we expect need more shades from you Lakme. To say about the consistency, it is neither too thick nor too thin but I doubt that with regular usage the consistency thickens. The texture of the liner is very smooth and glossy but it gives a matte after it gets dried. If you are looking out for a great matte effect, then this would be a perfect choice. Glossy lovers may not like it much.My Experience with this EyelinerThis is one of my favourite “daily wear” eyeliner. The main dislike about this eyeliner is that it takes too long to dry. I have to sit under fan for more than 5 minutes to dry it completely if I lined thick. If it is a thin line on your eyes, it takes 2 to 3 minutes to dry. So no quick drying, this may lead in smudging if not patient.About this productWhen applied looks very glossy on my eyes but after drying completely this shows a perfect matte effect. Even though I loved the shade, I wanted it to be blacker to beautify eyes perfectly. Lakme gives a huge quantity for this product; hence it takes months to get finished off. It may even take a year. When I splash water on my face the eyeliner doesn’t comes off or smudges but if rubbed, it smudges a lot and gives and horrible look. So, if you cry, sweat or get wet in rain you should allow the liner to dry before disturbing your eyes. Other than this, this is good for everyday use, especially for all the beginners. It stays all day long and does not peel off or cracks. The bristle and texture is to be improved in this product and price should be mentioned on the package.PROS1. Huge quantity for this affordable price, hence lasts really longer.2. The application is in great control and the packaging is good.3. I didn’t cause any side effects or itching.4. The liner doesn’t peel off or cracks. Stays on eyes all day long if not rubbed with water.5. Water resistant, hence it may suit even if you sweat (but shouldn’t rub)6. Beginners can use this as a perfect daily eyeliner.CONS1. No ingredient list is mentioned on the pack. This makes sensitive eyes hesitate to buy it.2. Even the price is not mentioned. It’s a great con because new customers may get cheated by the sellers.3. The liner takes long time for drying hence may not satisfy people who look for “quick and easy dry”4. The black should be more dark and news shades to be launched. There’s only one shade (black) now.5. It is just water resistant, not water proof. This won’t be a con for this price and quantity. So use wisely and you will like it6. In some packs, the application bristles are worst (Others are so good, so check before buying)Overall, I loved the product & you people will love it tooLakme Insta Eye Liner, Black, 9ml

NICE EYELINER, TERRIBLE BRUSH
This one has been around for so long it could be soon considered vintage. My mum tells me that this was the best and also the only available eye liner in their heydays in the 70s. One of my Malayali friend used to use this instead of kajal when we were in the 6th grade (mid 90s). Back then, I had no idea what it was, but that was a pretty swell idea to avoid kajal smudge and raccoon eyes given we were in a coastal city - warm and humid.I bought my first eye liner for farewell party in 2000 and at that time this product was bomb! Or so I thought. The formulation was good and so was the brush. It was thin just like it is in their current product profile. I used to practice wearing it so much after the Miss India craze. All our three Miss india's won their respective Int'l pageant that year. It used to give a thin, precise stroke and almost look like tightline effect. I would also practice the cat eye and build up on the thickness of the line. It was so versatile!Soon, around 2005ish, it started getting much watery in consistency. Around 2007 ish I feel, the formulation hit rock bottom. It was very watery and just very bad. Lakme had also come up with new but pricey eyeliners around the same time which were way better, so I loyally shifted to them.Recently, when I was about to blog about the best eyeliners available in India, I thought I had to give this one some mention. After all, it is the longest running eyeliner in India. So, I bought a new bottle and tried and tested it out. The formulation now is much better. It is thicker, and more pigmented. The bottle is the same, but what the heck happened to the brush? It makes my bad hair day look good. Seriously, it puts the wonderful eyeliner to shame. Nonetheless, if you can use an alternate brush like camlin 00, or like i use an angled vega brush, you can still work with the product. I would have justified it as good for practising because it is not just a fat brush, and fat lines look amazing on large eyes, but it is uneven so it just defeats the purpose. Mostly, beginners would like to start with a thin line and when they are confident, start to build up the thickness, so I would not recommend this in that way.Coming to its wearability, it takes longer to completely dry and you just have to keep your eyes closed or look down for 1 - 2 minutes to let it dry. It looks super glossy while it is still wet, but dries matte. It lasts up to say 6 - 8 hours in fair conditions. Like I wore this to office and it stayed out for 4 - 6 hours and then on it just started to fade slowly. I was back home after 10 hours and it didn't peel but looked uneven or maybe it was me looking tired. I have large eyes, so the thick line worked ok. So, all in all, it is not a trashy product. Given its price, it is actually good, forsaking the brush. If you are lucky, you get a good brush, if not, a bad one. One of the reviewers submitted a picture of how her brush looks. I have to say, it is the worst that I have seen. The one i have is uneven, but not so bad.If only Lakme could devote a little bit more attention to the brush, it would revive its lost glory.
