I bought this and combined it with some relays and a radio control device in my car which means I can automatically open my garage door. It's a bit Heath Robinson but it works. However the first one I bought eventually after two years completely packed up so it's a very useful very good device but don't expect it to last forever.

The media could not be loaded. This review comes shortly after unpackaging this item, before installing it.Right out of the box it feels like a serious piece of kit; it's heavy and robust. It comes complete with two brackets and connecting rods with split pins to secure them. The rods are a surprisingly good fit through the actuator and angle-brackets, better than I expected which will reduce unwanted movement in whatever you use it to moveThe unit is not too loud in operation, but there is some noise as it uses a conventional motor.Operation couldn't be simpler: wired one way the rod extends and wired the opposite way it retracts. Naturally it automatically stops at both fully extended and retracted positions. Of course you can stop it at any position and it will maintain there, so you can use your own sensors to govern its motion and end-stops. I was completely unable to make any impact on its movement with my bare hands during this brief test and there was no change in pitch from the motor as I struggled against it - so it won easily!

This is quite a heavy item and quite heavy duty , in fact I didn't realise , I thought it was a lot lighter unit.Not a problem as I have a project in mind for it , but it would be wasted opening a small lid or something , this is designed for something more heavy and bigger .You get the main actuator and the wires are marked telling you what they do , there are only two wires anyhow., you also get pins and brackets to secure the actuator to both ends.This can be used in a variety of applications , it could be used to open car doors , house doors etc . its max load is 750 newtons , which is about 76 KG , so it can take a bit of weightGood unit and decent price , would recommend

Have hooked it up to open a connecting door between living room and kitchen to let the cats in and out, but for some reason it only closes maybe half the time. A swift smack on the motor seems to get it going again, even after a re-lubrication. Wouldn't recommend for anything important.
