The middle section of one the Greatest Batman Epics of all time.
Knightquest is the middle block of the massive Batman epic that is the Knightfall Saga. The first two-thirds of this oversized volume collect the "Crusade" portion of Knightquest where we follow the new Batman, Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael, in his quest to exterminate crime in Gotham. Jean-Paul becomes more and more violent and unhinged as the story progresses, removing the the "knight" part of the Dark Knight title and keeping only the darkness. The final third of this volume collects the "Search" part of Knightquest, where we follow the broken Bruce Wayne and Alfred looking for Dr. Shondra Kinsolving. This story chronicles how Bruce eventually recovered and healed from his injuries inflicted by Bane. Why only 4 stars instead of 5? First, the two stories would have really benefited from being interspersed. The Jean-Paul Valley section is so long and gets somewhat tiresome (though the 3-issue Joker movie arc is a wonderful highlight). Almost none of the familiar cast of Bat-family characters are present (Jean-Paul kicks Robin out of the Batcave). Switching back and forth between Azrael and Bruce, the true Batman, would've helped lessen this. The two stories also reference one another at various points. Second, as other reviewers have noted, the first four pages Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #61 (part of the Search storyline) are printed out of order. Hopefully we'll get re-release of these Omnibuses soon and DC fixes this error. As to how this Omnibus compares to the 25th anniversary paperback collections, it contains the same contents as Batman: Knightquest: The Crusade Vol. 1-2 and Batman: Knightquest: The Search.

Includes the entire Crusade and Search stories but there annoyances
Overall this omnibus is good but there are annoyances which kept it from being great. What I like about this omnibus is that it included all the entire story lines of the Crusade and Search. The Crusade is about John Paul Valley's Crusade to get rid of crime in Gotham using what ever means necessary including killing criminals. The Search is the story of Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennysworth traveling the world searching for and rescuing the kidnapped Dr. Shondra Kinsolving and Jack Drake, Tim Drake's (Robin) dad. That's about the extent of the good - including lots of material. The bad and there are several. First and foremost is the binding. The hardcover is great but the spine binding is terrible. It easily comes apart and as you turn the pages, you can hear the spine crackling and come unglued. To better preserve the book, don't stand it on the shelf, instead have it flat. Otherwise, over time, the entire spine will come off. This is the same problem with volume 1.Another annoyance is how the stories are presented. The entire Crusade story is grouped together (at the beginning) and the entire Search story is group together (at the end). However, there are parts of both stories that refer to each other but the reading order doesn't allow for that. It can get a bit confusing as result. The third annoyance is the well publicized printing error pages 3 and 4 of the Legends of the Dark Knight #61.This is a must have if you are a Batman fan. Find a new copy at a discounted price since the the binding is not worth the cover price.

the contunation of the first OMNIBUS book
BAT-MAN KNIGHTFALL OMNIBUS VOL 2 KNIGHTGUEST continues the story of KNIGHTFALL from VOL 1. Bruce Wayne trys to get back in shape and fix is broken back. The New BAT-MAN is using anything he can to stop the VILLAINS. Both the VILLIANS and people are afraid of the New BAT-MAN.A most have for BAT-MAN fans.

Insulting and lazy.
DC's refusal to fix the printing error after two and half years is insulting not only to Batman and his legacy, but all his loyal fans that have purchased this book. This jarring error not only ruins this omnibus, but also stains volume one and three. If DC had any integrity they would issue a recall and replace all defective copies ASAP instead of driving fans away with nonsense like gotham high.
