My daughter keeps this book in her purse!
Found the book after running across their YouTube video. Battling my daighter’s acne with everything from candida diet to this (which is MUCH easier to follow. We are already vegan so that part was easy. Trying to figure out why acne took over her forehead and chin is not. There is a condition called Malassezia. It’s yeast overgrowth on the skin. If you’ve tried everything you need to look into this.Anyway, she’s trying this plan now and I’ll update my review with the outcome. But I’ll review the book now. It’s a really great book geared to people with acne so going and buying Dr. McDougal’s Healthiest Diet On The Planet book is NOT THE SAME THING.I know this because I bought them both since we are trying everything. The recipes aren’t even the same. Dont get hung up on this because others mention it. It’s not the same book. Both are excellent though. They do obviously consult with him and know him and he wrote the foreword. I don’t know why this upsets a few people. The clear skin diet team listed after the forward lists FIFTEEN well known nutritional experts. So the girls aren’t claiming to be experts. They are sharing what worked for them and wrote the book with this team. And no I do not know any of these people. If you or your child is suffering from bad acne the book is like a support group. We went to Downtown Disney and I asked my daughter if something was okay for her to eat and she said she’d look because she had the book in her purse. There is even a section about getting through acne emotionally. So if you or your kid are suffering it’s worth a try and even if it doesn’t work for you, you will still be better for reading this book.Food is the answer and until people and professionals start accepting this we will continue to have a lot of sick people. It may not be a cure all but it’s not going to hurt you to clean up your diet. I think adding more greens whether juicing or smoothies is also key.I will add my daughter has a lot of anxiety and stress. This is probably what set her system off to begin with. So be sure to take this into account. You can mess up your hormones, adrenals, thyroid, microbiome and more just from stress! If you fix your diet but can’t control that it’s like not following the diet. You have to resolve stress as well. Also, in this book they DO talk about the elimination diet but also how to reintroduce foods to your system after a while. One review said they tell you it’s forever and that’s not true. The recipes are simple and you won’t be sorry if you get this book. It makes perfect sense to cut out super oily foods like nut butters. We didn’t even think of that. So, even if it’s not your cure all there is probably something in here to help you.I don’t know why some reviewers are so annoyed about Dr. McDougal’s philosophies appearing in this book. It’s not like they plagiarized. He’s part of the team that helped create the content. It’s an amazing team.Good luck and will update in a few weeks. I think we’ve got several things to tackle so it’s not as clear cut for us. Probably a thyroid or hormonal issue as well. Stay tuned.

Easy Read and Useful Recipes
My skin started getting mild acne in my early 30's and I started gaining weight. Everyone told me (including my doctor) that is just the joy of turning 30 (along with a foot injury that stopped my hobby of running).Since my acne/weight gain coincided with me becoming a vegetarian, everyone around me blamed that too! I am passionate about animal rights and the environment, but I felt like my weight gain & acne where actually discouraging people around me to care about those things! My friends, family, doctor, and the trainer at the gym encouraged me to eat meat to get of my acne and weight! The licensed fitness trainer at the gym even suggested I aim to eat eggs at every meal (I had to laugh out loud at that one). This book was an easy read, but packed with information. I have now switched from a junk-food-vegetarian to whole-foods-vegan. In just one week, my fresh acne was gone. It didn't reappear when I was on my period. Honestly, are you freaking kidding me?! How can it be that more people don't know about this?! I can't wait to give an update after a few months about the red spots. The transition from vegetarian to vegan isn't that hard. The recipes are super easy and great. I can use the super simple ones during the week and make the fancy ones on the weekends. The hardest part is that everyone around me is currently obsessed with the Keto Diet/low carb/etc. I feel so much happier and fuller eating carbohydrates. Plus it is way cheaper, better for my health, better for the environment, and better for the animals I love! This book isn't just for people with severe acne. It works for mild acne too! I think people have just come to accept mild acne (especial on one's period) as part of life.

I'm beyond my teenage years but this book really has the acne cure. My skin is always at its best when I follow their guidelines. I recommend this book heartily!

Helpful information on diet, health, and confidence!
I couldn’t wait for this book to come out as soon as it was advertised by Nina and Randa.I have been struggling with acne since 5th grade, and now at 23 I am desperate to find a solution. I have tried every product on the shelves, antibiotics, topicals, etc. I was put on birth control for my mild cystic acne at 18. My skin was “ok” but still always broke out around my period (which would heal immediately afterwards). I have never had a completely clear face and I have always had hyperpigmentation. I decided to stop birth control due to health reasons, and my cystic acne slowly started getting worse over a 6-month period. I have noticed a change in my skin when I eliminate dairy and processed foods, but I have not been as strict as I should be. Now, 6 months off of birth control, my skin is totally out of wack. Not just small white/blackheads here and there but huge, painful cysts on my chin/jawline that take almost two weeks to heal (then I immedialty start to break out again as my next menstrual cycle begins). I considered Accutane but terrified of the side effects, so I decided to do something about my diet and overall health. This book offers basic information on acne, pore-clogging products, and the benefits of whole foods, but also amazing recipes, before and after photos, and the importance of self-love and confidence with or without acne. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the book, along with a compelete grocery list. I purchased a pressure cooker to go along with most of the recipes they provide, and I am excited to give this lifestyle a chance!
